The adventure begins

At last it's time to collect Bob and Sophie. Bob sees the car arrive and hides under the table. Sophie disappears behind the sofa. The farmers wife fishes them out and places them in a large cardboard box. This is then carried , through the chickens and goats in the courtyard , to the back of the car. The two small heads that peer out from inside accept their fate in silence. Sophie settles down under Bob. Stoic PON's.

Home after a long journey. Bob bounces off into the garden, tail wagging like a metronome. His sister soon joins him. An hour of carefree tumbling and rolling in the grass. Sophie then devours a large meal. She finishes her kibbles first and wanders over to help Bob finish his . Perhaps she won't be so shy after all.

One thirty in the morning. A loud yelp. Angus carries one , then the other, down to the front door. A determined look that says '' Surely you can't expect me to go out there. It's dark ! ". Two puddles in the hallway. So much for house training. Sophie now asleep across my left slipper, Bob across my right. Sophie ever so gently snoring.

Special getting to know you days.

Special days indeed! You might want to wear wellies inside until they get the hang of outside trips. Tor, Willow and Tucker welcome Bob and Sophie graciously, offering them biscuits. Welcome!

At least they woke you....or rather didn't keep you awake all night. So happy they're home, at last.

Ah yes, a new puppy owner isn't really allowed to sleep through the night until the potty training is done. Can't get enough photos of Sophie and Bob! It reminds me of when our now 10 month old pup arrived here at age 3 months. Thank you very much for your wonderful blog and sharing Bob and Sophie with us.

How wonderful! Special days indeed. Losing sleep is worth it when you get the heartwarming reward of puppies asleep at (or on) your feet in the wee hours. We so look forward to reading about Bob and Sophie's adventures as they start their lives with you. It's a big adjustment for them, but dogs are amazingly adaptable, and these two will fall in love with you and the Font in no time. So happy for you! Wishing you many joyful days ahead (and hope you don't step in any puddles). ;)

I was getting ready to go to bed(11:10 pm here in the USA) and was just about to turn my iPad off and I thought just maybe you had put something on your blog about Bob and Sophie. I was so happy to find pictures and the story about your first day and night. The fun begins. So glad I am able to start this journey with you and the pons.

These are the days!
The two little ones asleep on your feet; they know they're home. Could they possibly be any more adorable? It sounds like all has gone splendidly on their first day with you even with the puddles..

Now Bob, I want to have a word with you right away, dog to dog. About the matter of food. Now I may not have a sister, but believe me I do have experience of wee female puppies who put on this big act of being all shy and timid, and no soon as your back is turned, they're stealing your dinner. (Yes, Bunty, I am thinking about you). The worst of it is, the humans will think this sort of female behaviour entertaining and amusing, and if you step in too aggressively, you will find yourself considered to be the villain of the piece. So I strongly recommend you stay close to your food bowl, subtly guarding it, and if possible eat it all up before Sophie so much as thinks of taking a mouthful.
Toodle pip!
Bertie.
PS from Gail: welcome Bob and Sophie, I am looking forward to reading all about your exploits, and so of course is Bertie!

My how these two beauties have grown....they're getting cuter by the minute.
So happy that they're finally home at the ROF with you and the Font...seems as if it took forever to get there.
They're settling in quite well, sleeping on slippers, exploring the garden and piddling in the hallway....let the fun begin!!!

Lovely! As VirginiaC so aptly said - let the fun begin!

Welcome Bob and Sopie!!

I am finding myself a little choked up after reading this post. Partly because I remember the first days after I brought Todd home almost 2 years ago. The special moments like the first night at home and other "first moments" are treasured and savored and pass much too quickly. I look forward to getting to know this special pair!

How do we refer to your new additions? Wilf and Digby were "the Boyz" -- Are Sophie and Bob going to be "The Kidz?" :-)

I remember that yelp from a young pup in a new place. His puddle was on the couch though.

We are so happy this long-anticipated day has arrived.

They are sooo cute! They look like they doubled in size since the first pictures. Seems like they'll settle in right away as long as they get to sleep near their new mom and dad. Fun. Cindy & Tiger

They have done some growing during the time you were away. I do love watching Sophie though, she is still a little timid, isn't she? In the photo at the Rickety Farm she is right behind her brother, in photos here she seems to be sitting to the side of him, or behind him. I am eager to see her tearing around with Bob, and I just know she will be sitting up front one of these days.

Cheers,
Jo
