Cheerfulness and contentment are great beautifiers

5:49. The family of wrens that are nesting in the wisteria above the front door start to sing.

5:49:01. Bob joins them.

5:49:02. Sophie  adds her voice to the dawn chorus.

6:02. Our morning routine. Angus sits on the front door step. The sun already brushing the mountains. Sophie clambers up onto his lap. Bob reverses and sits, facing forward,  on his right foot.

Two minutes of undivided love and attention first thing in the morning and again last thing at night and sheepdogs know that all is right with the world. Then it's time to chase after  blackbirds and dig a hole. They hare off across the lawn in the certainty that '' this is going to be the best day ever ".

I think Bob is saying "Sophie, I caught this digging bug from you, now you must let me have a turn, and quickly. I'm growing by the minute and this planter is getting smaller".

. . .with a couple of blimeys thrown in for good measure, of course.

'The font ' reminds me that we gave Digby his name because that is exactly what he did.

Love the photo of the Bob, the beautiful old door and the wisteria.
Did Digby continue digging into adulthood? I ask because Bertie was an enthusiastic digger at Bob and Sophie's age, which I tolerated, and he just seemed to grow out of it and rarely digs these days.
Cheers, Gail.

He grew out of it after a year but boy did he manage a lot of digging in that first year. After digging he graduated to climbing walls.

They are really giving that flower box a work out. Blackbirds in wisteria are better than bats behind the shutters.

XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy

And they do make kangaroo sausages.

I'm assuming that bathing is still a daily, or more, routine with all the digging. I also assume that you pay for water...yikes! I love the second video with Bob pawing Sophie on the head!

You can see how they have grown by how small the flower box is getting!

Nothing quite like a canine chorus early in the early morn.
In this neighbourhood, it's the ice cream truck that's key to all the neighbourhood dogs raising their voices in a Hallelujah Chorus.
Loved the last photo of Bob peeping inside the door a whole lot.
The second video with Sophie in "her" pot digging merrily away and Bob barking a big boy bark and pawing her head made me choke with laughter, spilling my tea. Angus these herbal tea bags are pricey.

Do they sing well?

Angus said...

Yes. If by well you mean loudly.

I hope you weren't planning on putting anything in those planters this year! lol

Now I know what those stone boxes are....they are PON nests for the warbling polish sheepdogs. The photo of the front door is beautiful.

Not this year. Nor next !

First video: Bob quits halfway through, Sophie says, "Step aside, brother, let me show you how it's done properly." Like others here, I am grateful for their morning joy.

Bob and Sophie are just so philosophical! Clever pets they are. Love the digging...our Tor is 12 going on 13 and he still digs. Giant holes to lay in the cool mud.
