Happiness is only real when shared.

While ' the font ' goes to the fishmongers Angus sits on the rear bumper with the tailgate open. Next to him two inquisitive furry faces peer out at the world beyond. A senior gentleman in beige car coat and beige peaked cap wanders over and starts up a conversation. '' Bonjour monsieur. Bonjour. May I ask what breed they are ? ". Another octogenarian gentleman is called over. '' Maurice. These puppies are Polish. Have you ever seen a Polish dog ? ". Three passing ladies with breakfast baguettes sticking out of their shopping bags pause and join in the conversation. '' Are they brother and sister ? What big feet they have ". Amid laughter Bob and Sophie lick fingers. You're never  alone when travelling with a PON.

A six foot tall fibreglass squirrel and matching three foot fibreglass hazelnut have been installed in the middle of the roundabout next to the sunflower seed depot.  Fitting street furniture for the world capital of nuts. As you approach the roundabout the squirrel suddenly looms over an oleander bush. A hint of Jurassic Park.  Is Angus alone in thinking it looks ever so slightly menacing ?

Hope that squirrel doesn't cause any accidents. We love those pictures of Bob and Sophie just watching the world go by.

It is fantastic that they are demonstrating such confidence among strangers. Something, alas, Merlin has never perfected. I constantly wonder in what way I have failed him. He is a big lamb at home or among friends.
That is one big squirrel!
Have a lovely day.

Think that by nature they are completely relaxed at home with family and friends but no matter how much you socialize them they will always be wary of strangers. With these two we've decided to socialize, socialize as much as possible to see if it makes any difference.

I will be watching with great interest.

Very good idea about socializing the puppies, having them meet all types of people, animals and places. Though I don't think they are ready for that godzilla-like squirrel.

Bob and Sophie are now the talk of the town.....talk about a starring attraction. "Hey Maurice, you ever seen a Polish dog before?"
Socialization is good, but if perchance they detect any menacing behaviour towards you or the font from anyone, that socialization is out the window. I love how fast they're growing up right before our eyes.
Love the colour of your outdoor garden furniture.

You are right about the squirrel, and Sophie and Bob opening doors to new friendships--You are never alone when you have your dogs with you, this is especially true for us right now since we're traveling with 5! ;-)

The squirrel is a wee bit creepy. Good thing it doesn't move. I think it's the ears...

Those darlings! Just gorgeous!

Bob and Sophie are getting bigger by the day! That time when you look forward to the grown-up years, but wish they wouldn't grow out of puppyhood so quickly!

They compliment each other beautifully. I feel quite guilty now that poor Boris has not had a companion all these years.

You two are so cute I bet you never go anywhere without someone stopping to speak to you. Bon jour!

perfect pictures this morning. but then i think that about all your pictures! i'm no judge anymore.
just a sloppily grinning admirer with no prejudice! LOL. i'm just so delighted that every morning with my cup of coffee i can visit a little world in france profonde full of delight. elegantly simple cultured people . . . and fun characters that could only come from a novel . . . and to top it all off
two of the most adorable puppies in the world! no. i'm not prejudiced.

Best check out that squirrel. It may have a trapdoor concealing hordes of bushy-tailed rodents.
Do Sophie and Bob always wear harnesses for walking out, not collars? More control?

rottrover said...

I'd not noticed Sophie's multi-tonal hair coloring before...tres chic!!

Angus said...

Yes only harnesses not collars. Much better control and no pressure on young throats or delicate puppy paws.

Oooh, that squirrel is Apple's worst nightmare.
And after the cost of a canine knee replacement due to chasing one... mine too.

Harnesses are the way to go in public, you have control on them and with little dogs you can jerk them up fast right into your arms without hurting them if need be.

Angus, if I only read one blog, it is yours - the puppies, your village, your writing - get my day/night started right. I agree - socialized, socialize, socialize.
