To him who is in fear, everything rustles.

Madame Bay makes an appearance in the ' Wild Child ' voiturette. '' Too dusty to do anything " she says without a hint of irony.  Kitchen windows flung open, Radio Nostalgie turned on , a cup of coffee poured . Bob and Sophie tickled and cooed at . Sophie's going to the vets tomorrow so she gets extra attention  . '' Well , you'll never guess what's going on ?  " says Madame Bay settling comfortably at the breakfast table. It seems that after 21 years the mayor has decided to retire. '' The stress is getting too much for him ".  The mutually loathing Village Fleuri and Beautiful Byeways committees already planning to field candidates . Divisions, in this village of 67 inhabitants, 65 excluding us, already taking hold.

Radio Nostalgie is having a Sunday morning hour of ' love and passion '. To get their listeners in the mood they are playing Italian crooners of the 60's. Madame Bay heads to the dishwasher , cup in hand, swaying to the sound of a smoochy Italian ballad. '' Nobody sings like that these days " she says approvingly. Today she's in her Pride and Prejudice outfit. Copious amounts of  net curtain tied at the waist by a green velvet ( dressing gown ? ) cord. The paisley pattern turban held together at the front by what could, from a distance, be mistaken for the Kohinoor diamond.

For lovers of Italian music this is the song to which Madame Bay was swaying.

Today's post seems to be posted twice - one above the other - both are identical. A double reminder, perhaps, that tomorrow is SOPHIE's big day?

Listening to a few bars of the song (all I could stand!), I can imagine Mme Bay getting all romantic, thoughts drifting back to her younger days, when hopefully she was not dressed in lace curtains !! I bet she was a real catch back then, with the boys clamoring for her attention !!

If local politics become too heated, and I've a feeling they just might, I'd like to suggest Radio Nostalgie for everyone, followed by a good dose of Bob and Sophie.

Is tomorrow 'the day' for Sophie?

LOL Madame Bay sounds hilarious. We can just picture the scene and the outfit. Have a serene Sunday and stay cool.
Best wishes Molly

Yes. A quarter century of dealing with the Cost Centres broken collar bones, fractured wrists and wayward tonsils without blinking an eye. Sophie arrives and I'm as nrevous as they come.

A lovely Sunday morning chuckle...thanks as always Angus.
Give Sophie a great big hug and some tummy tickles for me, and tell her Brownie sends his love. Hope everything goes well tomorrow.

It will be interesting to see how Bob copes with his
sister's absence tomorrow. Here in the States it's
usually an all-day affair for surgery. Always
nerve-wracking.

Sending calming thoughts to the nervous m'ongoose and scritches to Ms. Sophie. Patience for all in the next few days. This is the first time the two furry loves have been apart, so Bob will be anxious as well.

holding baby sophie in my thoughts today. all must go well and will.
i hadn't realized it til jake said about being apart for the first time will be hard on bob too! poor little guy won't know what to think.
this will definitely slow down the digger of the family for awhile at least!
nose kisses to those puppies. xoxoxo

Obviously the political atmosphere in your little village will reach explosive atmospheres before this is all over. Wishing Sophie a perfect surgery with no problems and a quick healing. And peace for Bob as he deals with his sister's absence. And also peace and no worries for Angus and the font.
I almost found myself swaying to Il Mondo, especially as the singer's voice began to swell with emotion. But then I hurriedly clicked "Stop".

You really must write "A Year in the ROF" with all your adventures, and characters. Of course, it would have to be published posthumously. Good thoughts for successful surgery and fast healing for Mlle Sophie and extra ear scritches for Bob. And for Angus, too.

Even though this is a puppy blog the snippets of the kitchen and hallway views are making me curious about the house. Could you show us some of how you have decorated? I love especially the color of the cabinets in the kitchen.

Have a sunny day!!

Hang in there Angus. She will do well. Our girl pup had the procedure last Tuesday. I was a nervous wreck. She did very well, didn't need a post op collar and is back to "stay down/don't jump on people/slow down/leave the cat alone/stop digging/spit it out right now" mode. The hardest part was when I went to get her post op. She rarely whines..she was whining and crying for me (she stopped doing this when she heard my voice at the reception desk)
The biggest challenge will be keeping Sophie calm for two weeks while the sutures heal. Will be thinking of you and the Font!

I remember how anxious we were when Lulu had her op.
We were both nervous wrecks and it was tough, but she was fine.
Sophie will be fine, too, not that that helps, I know. You won't settle until she's home, then you'll all be fine.

Don't worry Angus (easy for me to say I know) but Sophie will be fine, it's amazing how resilient dogs are. It only took my little cavalier (one of those that screams at the thought of pain even though it hasn't happened ) one day to recover form her op and as mentioned in earlier blogs it was back to the stop that, calm down, take it steady etc Your biggest problem will be keeping Sophie calm for a few weeks when she's feeling so much better. Will be thinking of you all tomorrow

We have instructed absolutely everyone here on the Westcoast of Canada to cross their fingers for luck and to think nothing but good thoughts for SOPHIE tomorrow.
Who am I to talk so bravely! For our own Scottie's recent teeth cleaning, I sat in the reception of the veterinary practice fretting (for no reason) for six straight hours.
Never reading a magazine or book. Just fretting. Until the patient in question was brought out to me, wrapped in a warm terry towel, so that I could see that he was fine. So ANGUS........I know exactly how you are feeling. All will be well when she returns home tomorrow. Sending much love your way. P.S. Just a thought, in the way of a request: if you could post (in addition to your usual time slot) when the procedure is complete, and all is well with SOPHIE, I am sure we would all sigh with collective relief. Warm regards, and a special pat for SOPHIE.

THE surgery! Nerve wracking for all parties. Be sure to ask for pain medications for our girl. Sleep and pain reduction will help keep her calm and smooth over the immediate post operative period. She's in our prayers, Angus.
Mme. Bay in chiffon and the old farmer with his string vest! These glamour girls of a certain age and old gents that still fancy themselves matinee idols carry youth in their hearts. Brava/ bravo for them.
