Only a fool trips on what is behind him.
It pours with rain. The little stream behind the orchard turned into a mud coloured maelstrom. Sophie, mesmerized by the flowing water, wants to leap into every drainage ditch. Bob does. Finally, filthy and soaked, they are put on their leads and hurried home.
'The font' has returned with a new dog toy. A nine inch long, red, plastic egg. Bob looks at it suspiciously. Sophie leaps on it. The egg shoots across the floor and tumbles with an annoying ''clickety clack, clickety clack '' noise over the floor tiles. The game starts in the upstairs hallway, moves slowly and noisily to the drawing room, retraces its steps to the dining room and ends in a bedroom. The red plastic egg is then confiscated. The noise this seemingly innocuous toy generates is the dog world equivalent of giving an eleven year old boy a full set of drums.
