The more noble, the more humble.

A line from Great Expectations comes to mind - '' It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold; when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade ". Bob and Sophie are out in the garden all day. They chew twigs and chase squirrels. They dig out burrows in the soft, damp, shaded soil under the laurel hedge. This is where they doze, noses sticking out through the leaves. A very sensible way of finding shade. Quite how the laurel hedge will stand up to this fevered attack remains to be seen.

Another sunny day in store. We are up and out early to pick up a Sea Bass from the fishmonger. The PON posse like the fishmongers. They also like the cheese mongers, the bakers, the greengrocers and the butchers. Most of all they like the cafe under the arcade where they get their  ' illicit ' half croissant. The puppy - neutron bomb on legs - stage is drawing to a close and they are now slowly graduating into comical, less frenetic, companions. Freedom and boundaries understood. With dogs, as with life, you get out what you put in. Eventually.

So I am wondering, in photo #3 today, which pup has got hold of the wrong end of the stick?

At first, we wondered what the garden decoration was in the bushes. Then noticed it was a PON!

The frenetic puppy stage passes much too quickly--Todd will be 3 in April and with his spring haircut this week I see a grown up Scottie. Then he ran into the yard with a sock, and I see it hasn't gone far. I've a feeling the same will be true for Bob and Sophie!

Spring has sprung at last. I spotted people in sandals and tank tops in Winchester!
