I think the world is run by 'C' students.

One of those days when the cool mountain air slugs it out with the warm air from the Mediterranean. Hot one minute, chill the next. By the afternoon the weather's settled on a muggy compromise. Sophie sleeps on top of the wooden garden table, Bob sensibly dozes in the shade underneath.

Our evening walk. By the village pond hundreds of frogs are basking contentedly in the sun. Sophie considers leaping into the pond to show them who's boss. Thank heavens she's on her lead. Why did I ever think a female dog would be less of a handful than a male one ?

The German billionaire flies by on his motor glider. Should one wave at him out of courtesy or ignore him in the belief that he might become distracted and fall a hundred feet to an agonizing death ? If only Miss Manners were here. I settle for looking skywards but not waving. Bob does the same. Sophie remains fixated on the frogs.

Daft ditty on a sunny day:
PONS loves ponds
But so do frogs,
If PONS go in ponds
Frogs go in dogs!

I love that second last photo...such a lovely sunny day surrounded by beautiful scenery around the pond.
Let's hope the German millionaire did not find you rude for not hailing him....you may not get another invite to his home.....would you really mind???

"My Girls" have always been more of a handful than "my boys" and I have a few ideas about why this is, but Miss Manners wouldn't approve of my putting it in writing.

And speaking of Miss Manners.... my Miss Manners advice to you for the next time the German billionaire flies by on his motor glider; watch for eye contact, and give him an acknowledging nod. ???

You mean the German billionaire has to pilot his glider by himself, he doesn't have someone to do it for him? Gracious, whatever is the world coming to. I think you were right on -- a discreet acknowledgement but nothing too effusive.

We were under that very same delusion about girl dogs and, like you, we found out different. Quickly.
As to the world being run by "C" students? I'm sure you remember Geo. W. Bush proudly declaring himself to have been one.

"C" students that had to crib on exams to even get that "c" grade.

Whoever said the world is run by 'C' students is an optimist.

We've had rain and Bella has been out harassing the frogs....must be a girl thing.

Your title grabbed me. I frequently have that same thought. I guess that whether you wave to the billionaire depends on whether you like him or not!

Next time Mr.Millionaire flys by, just tip your hat to him! You must wear a hat or cap outside, don't you? When I was a kid, all the old gents like my Grandpa would tip their hats in greeting. I will always love it, I think. (Not that you are an Old Gent by any means!)

I think you should have put you arms straight out (like superman) and have run around the pond with obvious swooping and diving motions. If he had crashed into the war memorial while watching you I'm sure he would have died with a smile on his face.
