'' You think this is cold ? "

Someone has set up a 'New Years Party ' mannequin in the supermarket. It commands pride of place by the cash tills.  A spot where three year olds can look at it and develop phobias while their mothers load up the shopping trolley.

The invitation to Chateau Opulent said 'black tie'. Our Muscovite host greets us in white tail coat and trousers with matching shirt and shoes. A red cummerbund and bow tie enliven the ensemble. A memorable combination.

We were supposed to go in the big 4x4 but at the last minute Angus can't find the keys so we go in the Skoda. The security men read our invitation closely. Very closely. They look at Angus in a way that suggests they think he's here to serve the canapes.

The weekends wet weather has been replaced by bright sunshine and frigid temperatures. Minus 10 this morning. Something in Bob and Sophie's DNA considers this to be prefect weather for doing pretty much everything. They come in for lunch and again for dinner but spend the rest of their day outside - digging, barking at passing tractors and basking on the wooden garden table.

Through the day Sophie sports her '' Cold ! You think this is cold ?  " expression. Bob is too busy chasing invisible things to sport any expression other than that of unalloyed happiness.

Just another day in deepest, deepest France profonde.

This clever albeit a little unsettling : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhg7Xm4FXAY

Not for the first time, I am thinking that this blog is a one man campaign to destroy France's reputation as a Mecca for the chic and stylish...

That mannequin sports quite the ensemble. Not sure I would convince Stuart that this is just the outfit he needs for New Years Eve.
Merlin would agree with Bob and Sophie that this is perfect PON weather.
I imagine it was rather fresh in the Chateau..

I lost my 13 1/2 year old GSP Josey early in December, so this holiday season had been tinged with sadness for me, but your PON's happiness and contentment always warms my heart... Thank you for your charming blog :)

To say goodbye to 13 1/2 years of friendship and devotion is a wrenching time. I'd like to think they run on ahead of us to scout out the way .

Better good company in a Skoda than bores in a Bentley.
The mannequin should be placed in the spirits section as a example of the tragedy of alcoholic excess.

I'd like to think that too. New Year's Day would have been Jakey's 13th birthday.

You could have bought the pink feather boa and worn it to the capitalist's fete, which would likely have taken care of future invitations. Hope the canapés were good.

I think someone's confused Halloween and New Year when they dressed that mannequin, really scary!

Looks like the display was set up by the beer and absinthe crowd to us.

Didn't you go in your kilt??
No dressier ensemble on earth.

Only if I'm in the Highlands or on New Years Eve. Having said that I did wear a kilt to the Stone Mountain Games but that was 40 years ago.

Send the PON's to our place. Was -39 celcius with the wind this morning. Cold.

The security men were just doing their job....lol.
Angus once again you have posted another lovely video....loved each dog character, but I burst out laughing at the "teenager" in the hoodie with the cell phone at the table and the other one stealing the silverware....too funny....the lengths to which these manufacturers go with their ad campaigns.
