A conversation stopper.

Our first hot day of the year. The PON duo spend much of their morning rediscovering the cool spots in the garden. The grass, which had been carefully reseeded a month ago, looks parched. Closer examination shows that all the new grass seed has been eaten by the wrens that are nesting in the laurel hedge.

The Old Farmer wanders over to tell us about his trip to Paris in the venerable Ford Transit motor home. I ask him if he had difficulty finding somewhere to park . '' Oh no ! " he says. '' I have a lady friend who saves me a spot on Place de la Bourse ".  The thought of a 1968 era motor home with non-matching chintz curtains and a plexi-glass rear window on the square outside the Stock Exchange is, literally, a conversation stopper.

HOT?! Yesterday was sunny here (central south-east France)but oh! The wind cut right through you. We are planning to get out into the garden (well...courtyard) today, but at 10.30 it's still uninvitingly cold, despite the sun. Never mind! The sky is blue and the catkins are out. Spring is a-coming.

21 degrees yesterday. Forecast to be the same or higher today. A decidedly chilly 4 degrees for the 6.30 walk but by 11.00 am it's already getting warm out in the courtyard.

So glad the Old Farmer has made it back from Paris safely...trust him to have "a lady friend" to reserve a parking spot just for him and his motor home in a busy city...God I love this man!!! Tell him he has a fan for life in the sunny isle of Barbados.
Hope you all had a wonderful Easter.

What a tonic the Old Farmer is, and what adventures he has! Would the sight of his venerable old Motor Home parked for so long, in such a prestigious area, cause future investors to think twice about adding to their portfolios.....? If the warm weather keeps up, it looks as though Bob will be in need of a good trim to thin out his winter coat. Sophie, for once, looks the sleeker of the two.

The Old Farmer is so far ahead of the crowd in being totally oblivious of what's supposedly "in" that he is coolness itself. I await his profile in The New Yorker.
