Diva moments.

Off-season Toulouse sunny and not too hot. Restaurants three quarters empty despite the presence in town of a large group of Delta Airlines staff  taking delivery of a new jet. Dogs romping in fountains intrigue the angelic duo.

Bob remains amiable throughout. Sophie is prone to ' diva moments '. Diva moments invariably coincide with her passing a restaurant / cafe / butchers / bakers / poulterers / kebab stall. A late night at a table on the Square watching the stars come out . Roast chicken and rice served in ceramic dishes. Water bowls replenished every half an hour. Much contented sighing from underneath the table.

Home to find The Rickety Old Farmhouse is still standing. Beams safely in place. Bob takes up his position on the stump seat to monitor passing pilgrims. Sophie, exhausted after her trip to Toulouse, has fallen into a coma on the front doorstep.

Normal service has been resumed.

  1. I think I would be sighing contentedly as well. Roast chicken, rice and that amazing square to people watch, what's not to like?
Beats looking out over a grey rainy London!

    1. Even better - some ice cream in a bowl. Only in France will waiters automatically bring dogs a little 'treat'.

  2. Glad you're back and everything is fine and dandy.
Did the roses pull through okay?

The village can breathe a big sigh of relief now that Bob is safely back on guard again.

  4. Sounds like a great trip to Toulouse. Life would be dull indeed, without those 'diva moments', would it not?

    1. Apart from Sophie's dive moments all went well. Kebab stalls in the back streets clearly tick all the right boxes !

  6. No contented sighing from on top of the table? If ever there was a time, that looked about perfect. No crowds, the ones you love nestled about, the starry firmament a lovely blue canopy......sigh.
Bonnie n Kenzie....double diva disasters waiting to tell someone off

    1. In London or Paris the light pollution reduces the chances of seeing the stars at nine thirty at night . Toulouse being undiscovered and decidedly untouristy must be one of the few major cities where you can still hear birds singing in the trees and watch the satellites catching the last of the suns rays.

  7. Sounds like an excellent trip in all respects. When you mention Sophie's diva moments, I have a mental image of a furry 2-year-old child screaming and throwing herself on the ground, kicking her heels in protest.

  8. You've come home to find everything in order? Are you sure? Highly unusual.
