Quiet ?

It was supposed to be a workman free weekend. The welder, who promised to be here on Friday to repair the damage done to the gates by the morose lads , had other ideas. He shows up on Saturday night. He brings with him his wife and daughter. While he welds they set up a table and chairs in the middle of the driveway. A tablecloth is laid and a salad and bottle of wine produced. A scene of convivial soldering ensues. He solders a little, eats a little, solders a little, chats a little. The PONs are intrigued by the food but alarmed by the sparks.

Sunday. Bob and his master walk down the lane. The male PON is told, as he's told every morning, that this is Bobs Country. He accepts this. The female PON is too busy ferreting for unmentionable things in the hedgerows to be bothered about  philosophical constructs.

At the greengrocers dark green tomatoes. Not just any unripe tomatoes but ones with dark green marbling. They must be grown for a special purpose.

We buy some white asparagus for lunch.

Strawberries are down to 6 Euros a kilo. That's what sun and rain do to farmers margins.

Both dogs are in a happy place. They've dealt with drainage engineers and welders and kept their flock safe.

One has to admire the dedication of the welder - and his family. Such sophistication, and it sounds as though he is a man happy in his work !
What wonderful PONs - keeping their flock safe. Today they can rest, in readiness for whatever the coming week may bring.

Yes I too was impressed by the welder's creative approach to achieving a good work-life balance.
Cheers! Gail.

I admire the welder and his family taking life in stride...what a wonderful scene that was of him working and having dinner with his family at the same time.
So happy that the gates have been fixed...Bob and Sophie are secured again.

OMG I can just picture the setup with the table, the diners, the soldering. Priceless.

Angus, this has nothing to do with today's blog, but I don't know if you are aware that Jack, from Daily Dose of Jack blog, has gone to the Rainbow Bridge? TG had to say goodbye to him last Tuesday. He was suffering from the big C - tragic in a dog only seven years old.

Thank you for telling me. It's so sad. He always made me laugh. He was a canine philosopher King.

As was I. French practicality, combined with a certain elegance. And it made me laugh.

Oh, oh, I have an idea! You can open 'Lunch and Watch'. Begin with two nicely appointed tables. One located near where the morose lads stand, (that could be the smoking area) and one where there is a breeze (for non smoking). Serve only one item ( sandwich?). I know people would be delighted to pay for such a yummy lunch, and the coming and going of characters! This could maybe help with the repair expenses once it caught on?
