Stealth, silence and surprise.

Monday is set to be a day of heavy rain. Band after band forecast to come rolling in from the Atlantic. In a gap in the clouds Bob gets taken out for a walk. Within minutes his paws are coated in mud. Not any mud but the thick gelatinous kind that only recently tilled clay soils can produce. He's not bothered. This is, after all, what dogs are put on earth to roll in. Canine heaven. For him this is undoubtedly starting off as the best day ever.

Back at home he is washed and toweled dry. He joins his sister in the kitchen.

The rain has brought the moles to the surface. Bob would like to think he's an excellent mole catcher but he's not. The elements of stealth, silence and surprise lacking from his technique. He is however an enthusiastic digger up of mole hills. Wet, muddy, mole hills.

Oh gosh Bob, you are so lucky to have some gelatinous tilled clay soil mud on the doorstep. I have to travel all the way down to Nottingham to enjoy that sort of mud.
Toodle pip!

It must be that wet, cold, Monday morning feeling, but both the little darlings look glum. Bob particularly so, in spite of glorious gelatinous mud and attempted mole catching.

Is there anything beside stealth, silence and surprise needed to catch a mole? He would figure high on the ENTHUSIASM - perhaps that makes up for the other lacks?

Something tells me that however much he is lacking in stealth, silence and surprise, he is still far ahead of his sister.

How protective he looks in those pictures with Sophie.

I think that Bob needs to channel his inner terrier.

Any day that starts out with that kind of mud definitely rates as a best day ever.

How lovely to see them together, with Sophie out of her protective cage.
