The thick pea souper.

Thick fog rolls in. From the drawing room window we can just make out the illuminated 'Joyeuses' Fetes sign glimmering on the church porch but all the rest is grey impenetrable mist. A very muffled silence shrouds the village.

The PONs are oblivious to the thick pea souper outside. Bob helps me take down the tree. 'Help' in this sense being a relative term.

Sophie prefers the comfort of the kitchen. She carefully monitors the preparation of the pork roast.

Bob can hold his head straight again, the drooling has eased and he has regained some, if not all, of the use of his tongue. 'The Font' is now less sure that the right eyelid is showing signs of working. On balance we're coming to the view that it's not the problem that we'd feared and is instead somehow related to his interpretation of his sisters incapacity.

We've decided to delay the MRI as a) it would upset him ; b) because he's not in any pain or discomfort and c) the problem seems to be resolving itself - albeit slowly. Protecting the eye is now our only real worry.

The hardware store eerily quiet. That time of the year when everyone has spent their money.

Great to read the encouraging news about Bob.
On the radio yesterday morning, I listened to an earnest discussion about whether or not it was linguistically acceptable to describe fog as heavy...
Bertie wants to know if there is ham in the pea souper.
Cheers!
Gail.

So pleased to hear that Bob is on the mend, and that further investigations have been suspended. We have been sure, all along, that his problems stem from Sophie's illness, and as siblings from the same litter, they must have a very strong bond. There's nothing that a really good savaging by a diva sister can't put right !

Wonderful news about BOB - from his two fans on the Westcoast of Canada. We have always believed his problem/s were related directly to his sister. As self-appointed Family Fellow and Family Protector - who knows how helpless he may have felt during all of this. Stress can be
the culprit of so many things. She is on the mend - he seems to be as well. Fingers crossed it continues on this path, and that this New Year will restore order and good health to all those in the ROF. Your patience and devotion is to be admired. We are exactly the same with our history of dogs. 'Courage BOB........courage.'

I remember a dense pea soup figure in London where you could not see your hand in front of your face. It made crossing the road on the way to work scary.

Good decision with Bob. If things are settling hopefully he is on the mend.

We hope it was just a sympathy ailment.

Two dogs on the mend. Good news.
We've had a lot of fog lately, too, but since Tuesday it's been COLD and very sunny. The chill seems to have wrung the moisture out of the air. Hair and clothes are full of static electricity.
The shoppers are just lying low until the soldes begin next Wednesday.

Absolutely fabulous news about Monsieur Bob. Perhaps a bit of magic for him as well. Calmness and feeling all is right in his world will assist his recovery I am sure. Once Mlle Sophie is ready to be savaging again he will feel that all is back to normal and he will hopefully improve further. I might say that in Australia where we live we have awoken to fog 2 mornings in a row. There is something mystical about fog. Love to all at ROF.

With Bob showing such encouraging signs of recovery and Sophie in her role as sous-chef de cuisine, it’s clear that a happy new year is underway at the ROF.

So relieved to hear the news about Bob. It's rather amazing the demons anxiety can conjure, for both canines and humans. Keeping him in my prayers. xx

Such happy news about Bob's health, and little Sophie looks like an angel overseeing the cooking! We are all smiling!

Marvelous news for the New Year! Bob is obviously very sensitive and attached to Sophie, so hopefully all will go back to normal for BOTH dogs now :)

Glad to read the news about Bob! Maybe a pair of "doggles" to protect his eye, if he'd wear them. Max had his 2nd knee surgery today, but I don't think he's missed except by me!

PS: Saw your msg about the package - Hope you've seen the one to you as well. You are right about the cost of US postage!! I always forget about the cost to mail overseas until I'm told the total, and then I remember.

Best for Max. Be warned - the patients patience levels are set much lower the second time round.
