A very happy place.

Downstairs to find Sophie asleep in the middle of the hall carpet. She's using a small, partially destuffed, bear as a pillow. She's also snoring like a trooper.

The arrival of big brother wakes her. She greets him grumpily. It takes Sophie a  moment or two to gather her thoughts before joining us for breakfast.

The storm has done for the church clock electrics. The hands have got stuck at 3.35 but the mechanism has a mind of its own and tolls seven - randomly. The bells fall silent. The mayor has literally pulled the plug. '' Probably damp in the circuit board " he says with what, to the uninitiated, might sound like certainty.

After the storm the day is warm and clear. Something special about the air after a storm. It's like breathing liquid silk. Dogs and master spend their afternoon in the garden. A day that is quite simply blissful. Interesting to learn that in Oklahoma despite being winter it's a 100 degrees.

The disturbed earth where the trees have fallen over proves to be a glorious hunting ground for worms. Sophie avails herself of the opportunities provided. Bob doesn't so much run round the garden as float round it. That unmistakable rolling walk that indicates he's in a very happy place. In fact this old faithful could be his theme song : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtF6Jej8yb4

Oh how I would love to see Bob floating around the garden exuding happiness.

A post of surprises. I am glad you told me that sweet little Sophie's pillow was a bear because I was thinking it was a beaver. Why does the bear have white bucky teeth? And Bob's song made me laugh out loud. Old faithful? Never heard it before. Suspect it's not very old or at least not if using my time frame but it's a good one.

I am trying to imagine the position required to obtain that second photograph.
Liquid silk is the perfect way to describe it. You are quite a poet.
The sun is peeking through here, though I can still hear the rumble of the river through the closed windows. We didn't stick around to watch the water get higher and spent Wednesday night in town, well away from the river. I see gardeners cleaning up across the street this morning, in shirt sleeves.

Each morning, I look forward to seeing a photo of Bob and Sophie together. A little bit of right in a world going increasingly wrong.
Any more news of the old farmer? Prayers are with him.

I'm surprised there's no mention of the swaying Jesus...still atop it's perch after all that havoc?

I noticed that Jesus seems to be right in his place, despite the gale.

What a joy it is to visit here each morning. One can see the spring in Bob’s step.
If we’re voting, I also think Sophie’s pillow resembles a beaver.

Enjoyable read, glad we (OK) made it via the hot temps, thankfully, not the "other" things...
best regards from Oklahoma City

We have discussed it among our selves, and now cast three more votes for a beaver! Bob has one rockin theme song. Please update us on The Old Farmer.

Angus, why did the storm not dislodge the creaking crucifix? Is that not a miracle?
