Grateful.

A wet and windy day. 'The Font' and Bob head off to the bakers.  A car, speeding, takes a bend on the wrong side of the road and skids into the 'Loonj'. The aggressive young driver one of those men who denies responsibility and believes he can bully the other driver. He is mistaken. 'The Font' refuses to move until the aggressive driver signs an accident form. After a lengthy and acrimonious exchange he agrees. He then disappears. What's the betting he isn't insured and that the details are false ?

'The Font' returns home, describes what has happened and has a cup of tea. Bob, who has observed everything from the back of the car, is taken for a long, long walk. Neither driver nor four legged passenger are any the worse for wear. The damage confined to the headlights , the bonnet and the front bumper. Having an accident in your own country is bad enough. Having one in someone else's is worse.

Angus is simply grateful that all his flock are safe. Grateful is such an important, but little used, word.

Sophie continues with her schedule of ever increasing walks. Today she bounces down the lane.

Sunday morning in deepest, deepest France profonde.

There are idiots on the road the world over. So glad only the car was harmed. Sophie is looking good today - the furs on her left rear leg are growing back well.
Cheers, Gail.
PS Great game at Murrayfield yesterday!

Glad there were no injuries, except the car. Go Font!

So sorry to hear of the mishap, but it's a relief to know that 'The Font' and Bob are not injured. A car is easily mended - people sometimes aren't.

We must be grateful that all is well. A car can be mended. Mlle Sophie is certainly looking in fine fettle. So long as everyone one is safe at home. Next will be the repairer . I am sure that there will be some interesting tales here knowing that life in the country can sometimes be challenging to say the least.

PPS Angus, you mentioned a good source of soft collars a while back. If you remember the name, I'd be really grateful if you'd let me know, either via a comment or email to bouncing(dot)bertie(at)outlook(dot)com.
Thanks, Gail.

We too are grateful your flock are safe. Happy Bob had an extended walk to take his mind off his earlier upset. Sophie's prancing makes me laugh! So very sorry 'The Font' had such a nerve gangling encounter.

Hi. Haven't forgotten you. We got ours in Germany. I think we have a smaller one that is too big for the PONs but might fit Bertie. It's been put somewhere in the garage. I'll e-mail if I find it. We can't remember where w got them in Germany but will try to find that as well. The smaller inflatable collars won't stop him from licking his paw.

Well done to The Font for standing her ground. Glad she is ok.

Thinking of the Font today. Between the pups, the elderly relatives, the computer, the holiday visitors, and now being hit by a mouthy moron in the Loonge, I'd have taken to my bed :) Angus, you are blessed.
I am so happy that all four of you are okay.
And Bob is such a sensitive boy, I hope this does not throw him off course at all. Damn the morons.

In late Nov, my spouse and Lola Golden Doodle took my Loonge-like car to pick up a pizza. They were hit by a woman with a man passenger. My car ended up in a bush on someone's front lawn. The driver said it wasn't her fault, but her friend kept saying, "I TOLD you to stop at the corner!" :-)
The police came and said "Are you ok sir? (Yes.) Is your dog ok sir? (Yes.) Is the pizza ok? (I don't know.) Policeman, with a grin: " Let's check it!" Clear priorities!
Our friend lives nearby and picked up Lola and the pizza and brought them home while hubby dealt with the accident & the police drove him home since the car was being towed away. BTW, the lady was judged to be 100% at fault & I finally got my car back 2 days before Xmas.
BTW: Lola was fine but was a bit "needy" for a few days. And she received all the love and care that she needed.

I, too, am relieved that the flock is all OK. Yay, The Font for standing her ground.
I saw that Bud commercial on the book of face, and it sparked an interesting thread about the various derogatory terms immigrants have been called in the U.S. over the years. Lady Liberty may lift her lamp beside the golden door, but sometimes ignorant fools try to put it out.

I'm also thankful that there were no serious injuries other than the car. I've also just gotten a new car, and know that it's only a matter of time before the same thing happens. --Knock on wood that it's later rather than sooner. I hope the rest of your day has been quiet and uneventful, and safe!

I had to chuckle at Sophie. Max is getting really, really good at playing escape artist.

Thank goodness for no injuries. Consider it a given when someone runs from an accident or attempts to bully the other driver that the individual has no license, ,no insurance or alcohol in their system. The cell phone really comes in handy photographing the offender's vehicle, license plate, drivers license, insurance card and person.
Yes, hair is filling in on Sophie's leg nicely. This unfortunate period will hopefully become a just memory soon enough.

Wonderful to see Sophie's tail feathers blowing in the wind...And that the flock is none the worse for wear. (GO Font!!)

Another fine example of why I believe we all so admire The Font. I add my thankfulness that she and Bob were not injured. What very nice pictures of Bob and Sophie along the lanes.

Whew! That could've been a whole lot worse! I do hope the details the gut provided turn out to be correct.... The last time I had a "too close for comfort " altercation, I used my phone to take photos, and as soon as I started to do that, the offending driver became a whole lot more conciliatory! The photos were able to be used in a court of law too, as they provide evidence of place and time, etc.
