The first strawberries of the season.

Locally grown Gariguettes make their appearance in the greengrocers. Proof that summer is creeping closer.

On the egg counter a note informs clients that due to the avian flu outbreak the chickens ' raised in the open air '  are for the moment '' confined due to the requirements of the authorities ''.

The PON duo are in fine form.

After a forty minute walk Sophie decides decides to recharge her batteries.

We are on a crack of dawn flight on Wednesday so tonight they are heading off to the k-e-n-n-e-l-s.  We tell ourselves that they'll enjoy themselves. This may not be entirely ( or even partially ) true. They will however be safe, fed and well cared for. Madame Bay volunteered to stay and look after them. We toyed briefly with the idea but the thought of doors and gates left absent mindedly open and visits by Hugo, the errant son-in-law, settled the matter.

This is a cheerful start to a day :

Ignorance is bliss. Three little words, pertinent to the PON DUO right now...........until tonight, that is. Travel safe ANGUS, know that all of us count the days until your return each and every time.......until you are re-united with SOPHIE and BOB........and that all is well (once again) with the FLOCK at the ROF. When can we expect your return - so that we collectively can mark our calendars. Bon voyage to your and the FONT.
From your Fans on the Westcoast of Canada.

I think your selection of a safe and secure place for Bob and Sophie while you are away is a good choice. Happy travels!

Bless those two lovelies...you could do no more than your careful selection of the best option for them.
Bon Voyage!
Wishing you both happy and safe travelling :-)

This stay will be something of a learning curve for Bob and Sophie, because although their "quarters" will be familiar, they have met the people looking after them just once. However we're sure that they will be counting the days until your return. Marking off the days on the "cell" wall with a piece of chalk Sophie just happens to have about her person !!
Safe journeys to you both - we hope all goes according to plan, and we look forwards to tales of your travels upon your return.
Don't forget to pack Furry Fox !

I await the photos of their baleful looks when you go to pick them up on your return.
And I suspect the k-e-n-n-e-l will have some stories to tell you about Sophie's antics. Not casting aspersions on her highness....

On our returns we'll see that the PONs have perfected the 24 hour ' how could you leave me ? ' sulk.

A very snowy east coast this morning - Wishing you and 'the Font" all the best and a safe journey! Bob and Sophie will understand, especially if you bring them something from your travels!

Nobody can look after one's dog(s) as well as you can. It is a shame that we have to feel so bad about leaving them. We are all thinking good thoughts for them in k-e-n-n-e-l-s and are counting the number of 'sleeps' until you are home.

Safe and secure wins hands down. Safety and security to owners and dogs on their adventures.

I can almost taste the strawberries.
Happy and safe days to everyone!
(And just how am I to begin my morning so well until you all return?)

Well said! Bon voyage from rainy Langley BC where it is finally not snowing.

We house/dog sit and it is a huge responsibility. Making all the correct dietary choices, making sure all gates, doors etc are closed. Making sure they are properly exercised and are happy pups. Our borzoi can have issues of torsion so we keep her calm for an hour plus before or after eating. All in all Madame Bay was well meaning but I think the pups are better off at the Kennels.

Glad that the dynamic duo will be in secure quarters. Safe travels to you and The Font.
We're hearing stories here about increased, er, zealousness at various entry points, so will be interested to see if it's all smooth for you.

We have been to the US Embassy in London for interviews as approved travellers. This should make our entry easier. It can be expected that The Font will be waved through and Angus will be greeted as if he's got' Deth 2 Amerika ' tatooed across his brow.

Friends always ask why the kennel instead of a house sitter. Just being able to travel knowing the dogs are well-cared for vs. 'are they behaving, or getting out' makes the expenditure worth it. Bon Voyage.

Hope The Font and you find California sunny, not like what the east coast is experiencing at this time. The good thing about Bob and Sophie is they have each other. We will miss all of you, but at the same time hope you have some fun adventures! Bon Voyage!
