Fools are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts.

Sophie starts her day with a shriek. She's seen the two collar doves. The doves have the effrontery to be drinking from the swimming pool. As all divas know some things in life cannot go unchallenged.

Bob and 'The Font' opt for a power walk round the lake. Sophie and her master stay behind and set off for a tour of the village boundaries. After the excitement with the collar doves Sophie has eased into one of her sniff every flower, study every cloud moods. We stand and look at the bullfrogs sleeping on the water lillys. Sophie toys with the idea of leaping into the pond. Thankfully, she desists. We briefly discuss the constitutional implicatons of the dismissal of the FBI director but Sophie's more interested in a large tabby cat that's sitting on the old widows window ledge. Sophie belongs to the school of thought that believes : ' The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts '. No arguing with that.

We meet the mayor who is removing the two election posters. He has a bucket of soapy water and a brush and is busily scrubbing away at the billboards. One of his duties to ensure that political passions are kept firmly in check after the Presidential vote. The parliamentary elections are in a months time so he's not bothering to take down the billboards.

Loic, the heavily bifocaled gardener, arrives on his 50cc Honda. The Old Farmer has asked him to trim the edges of the grass the lawn tractor can't reach. Loic is delighted ( make that overjoyed)  that someone is willing to let him loose with a petrol powered strimmer. He heads off down the garden felling everything ahead of him.

There was a twenty minute storm last night which stripped the last leaves off the wisteria and the acacias. The rose garden looking rather the worse for wear.

Love the early morning photos by the pond.
Admitting to uncertainty is a sign of maturity in my book.
Cheers, Gail.

If BOB has gone on a power walk with The FONT - can we (his loving fans) assume that his limp is gone, that his foot is fine, and that the planned physiotherapy not needed? One hopes this is so. And we never did hear about that tooth - is all well in that department? You do know ANGUS (don't you?) that we all ride the waves with you where the PONS are concerned. Regards from the Westcoast of Canada.

Bob has made a remarkable recovery. He's on a half dose of Metacam for the next week and that's his treatment finished. The swelling has gone down, the bruising no longer painful and there's no need for a course of physiotherapy. The tooth isn't causing him pain and the vet dentist says going in for a crown would cause him more stress than just leaving things alone. He was a very lucky boy. If the car had mounted the kerb just another inch ......

Good to hear that Monsieur Bob is fine. Has there been any sign of that reckless driver?

Wonderful news to hear ANGUS! So happy that I asked......on behalf of all of us. BOB is truly remarkable - and so deserving of an easy go of what happened to him. Thanks goodness it wasn't worse. What would all of us do without the Family Fellow! Many thanks for your reply. Much relieved from the Westcoast of Canada.

What a relief to know that all is well with Bob, and he's recovered so quickly from his traumatic experience. You can't keep a good PON down !
Agree entirely with Sophie's philosophising !

Yes, this is a best ever update on Bob. Remarkable it is. And beautiful pictures that will be revisited to enjoy through the day.

Such good news about Bob. Hooray.
Sophie is very wise in her ruminations. I say, Sophie for President.
Your pictures this morning are balm for a jittery soul.

Hooray Bob! Now these two kiddows have had enough bad - on with all happiness! Agree with Sophs about cocky fools -- we are seeing it firsthand in the US daily, if not hourly...heaven help us.
