You cannot plough a field by turning it over in your mind.

Time, I'm told by 'the font', to visit the tailor. A decade , at least, since I was last there. The tailor takes my measurements and writes then in a large ledger. '' Any changes from the last fitting ? " I ask him by way of conversation.  ' Perhaps a hint of a little thickening at the waist ' he replies with well practised  tact.

On the flight home a  young man with a shaved head in the aisle seat. He bobs up and down like a cork on an ocean swell. First he's wants to take his laptop out of his bag, then he wants to put it back, the he decides he wants it again. Each time he gets out of his seat he makes an audible puffing noise followed by a muttered ' Oh dear, this won't do ' . He stands up and opens the overhead locker nine times before take off. Angus decides the best way of dealing with a neighbouring passenger with OCD is to fall asleep.

Bob and Sophie are waiting at the airport. Bob , as always, is intrigued by the sliding doors and the satisfying ' whooosh' they make when they open. '' Look what I can do Sophie ". His sister is much more interested in the smells emanating from the cafe at the far end of the arrivals terminal.

  2. There are so many ways that fellow passengers on airlines can be irritating. But at least next time I'm next to someone with that particular form of OCD I can smile and think of a cork bobbing up and down on the ocean.
    Cheers! Gail.

  4. Clergy, tailors and the font : masters of tact. No, strike clergy.
Supposedly, Charlie Watts of the Rolling Stones has remained the
    same measurements forever and
has 200+ bespoke suits. We're sure
    you've not added anything
    appreciable.
Bob will rest well tonight. The
missing flock member is home and
    safe under his watchful eye.
