Smiling all day long.

The kitchen fitters are hard at work. They were supposed to be finished today but are running a little behind schedule. Bob and Sophie take a close interest in their comings and goings.

The workmen will be back tomorrow. '' Don't worry. Everything will be in place for the weekend " says the florid man in red trousers. Why are we not convinced ?

Neither Bob nor Sophie have the faintest idea that a trip to the k-e-n-n-e-l-s awaits them. I tell ' The Font', with what might pass as conviction, that they will enjoy themselves. '' We'll be back before they notice we've gone ".

In readiness for our trip here's an old commercial which shows that everyone in America smiles all day long. This includes the lady at the 2.15 mark : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3YGtQ40Qvs

  1. Bob and Sophie, at least they are not abandoning you for a trip to Cumbernauld….

  2. I think they will miss you and their routine very much.
The garden is looking lovely; will Loic look after it for you while you are away?

    1. Loic will be in every day. His mother has told him it's going to be wet while we're away. The hairs on the back of her neck always tingle when a downpour beckons. The things you learn living in deepest France profonde !

  3. They'll certainly miss you. They may have a bit of fun during your absence but they'll miss you.
Your wisteria is heavenly! I'm green with envy.

  5. We Americans don't have quite as much to smile about as we did 25 years ago, but Bob's smile in that last picture is lovely! Is he going to Sizzler?

    1. Neither Bob nor his owners have been to a Sizzlers. After seeing that ad his master is tempted to give 'the two restaurant experiences under one roof' a go.

  6. So Sizzler is the "best that freedom brings"?
Scariest thing I've seen all day.

Bob and Sophie look so happy, they can't be aware that two of their flock are leaving them in k-e-n-n-e-l-s... oh dear......
Sizzlers is not something we have here, but we don't think we've missed anything life enhancing!

  9. Sizzlers and the American Way have been a big hit in Thailand. My husband often soup and salad at one of the 26 locations in Bangkok. When I looked it up I discovered that they have 43 Sizzlers in Thailand. It staggers the imagination. What would Bob do with all of those slivers of leftover steak?

Bon Voyage and try not to miss those furry faces too much. Your trip will be so dull without those comedians around.

  10. May we be the 1st to recommend that you check the health department grade of any sizzler you find...most that are left are in small, rural towns! They were never that great when they were everywhere. Save your hard earned money for any other place!!

  11. I've not thought about or eaten at a Sizzler in years; probably since about the time the video was made. They are pretty much non-existent in my corner of the US, which is too bad, I loved their Malibu Chicken--However last time I had it, I enjoyed it as much as Sophie and Bob love going to the kennel! :-)
