Another 20 degree day. Warmer than many a Scottish August. The Old Farmer wanders over to tell us that it was just like this in 1965. '' I went swimming with my wife in the sea at Biarritz on Christmas Day . A week later it was minus 20 and stayed like that for a month ". I hope he's wrong but fear he might be right.
New lights are bought. The Christmas tree goes up. Despite searching high and low two boxes of decorations appear to have gone missing. There is clearly a monster in the bassement that only eats Christmas paraphenalia.
Bob alerts his sister to the new addition to the upstairs hallway. Sophie is uncertain whether she should bark at it, ignore it, or sniff it. Being a multi-tasker she settles for options 1) and 3). Ignoring it is too much to ask for.
Prior to going to bed Bob checks the Christmas tree one last time. For good measure he gives a bauble an almighty biff with his nose. This is not our first generation of bauble biffing PONs . Plus ca change. So far Bob has not attempted to christen the tree.
Will those crackers around the base of the tree be completely safe from those very inquisitive PONs? Most homes seem to have a Christmas paraphernalia eating monster, and they all seem very partial to tree lights.
ReplyDeleteWe once had a Lab. who would carefully remove all the baubles he could reach on the lower part of the tree !
Our light eating monster comes out every year. So much for them being put away where even an 'idiot' could find them.
DeleteHas Bob mistaken the bauble for another part of the solar system??
ReplyDeleteIf you can biff it with your nose it must be a celestial body.
DeleteGive Bob time for the christening
ReplyDeleteI'll give until tonight.
DeleteI think you are being very brave having things under the tree, I know Leah would be straight in there!
ReplyDeleteBrave or foolhardy ?
DeleteBob. Sophie and the crackers? Hope there is a spare set in the closet. They, and your tree, look beautiful though. My cats have been napping in the branches of my tree. I've got no room to talk.
ReplyDeleteA few more games of touch rugby and the tree will be looking less pristine.
DeleteHas the nativity also disappeared?
ReplyDeleteIt will hopefully be found and unpacked later today.
DeleteDear Angus, I fear you may have to ask Caroline where did she put the lights? Things don't just disappear....smile.
ReplyDeleteI'll leave that to 'The Font'.
DeleteWith this year's addition of the newest puppy, presents have been reserved until all are put to their beds December 24th. She's a handful this one! :)
ReplyDeleteHandfuls are great ! They grow so quickly.
DeleteWe're sure the old decorations will surface when you pack away the new ones from this year.
ReplyDeleteGuaranteed. Along with the lights bought in 2014, 2013, 2012 and ....
DeleteI do so enjoy the interaction of our furry children and Christmas trees! Each one responding differently! They always keep an eye on the tree, in case it decides to do something un-tree like! Your tree is very pretty.
ReplyDeleteWe are on high alert in case Bob gets tree christening in his mind .
DeleteIt's a lovely tree, Angus. Our first "real tree" in many years will be put up on Sunday after my brother arrives. I can't help but wonder what our crew will think and do.
ReplyDeleteThis year we're rolling out the decorations over four or five days. Much less stressful.
