Some mornings Sophie looks like heaven only knows what. Today is one of those rare 'I look like a sheepdog' mornings. For those who don't know her she might almost pass as angelic. There again, how many angels would ferret for dead mice in the drainage ditches before breakfast ? Or, for that matter, after breakfast ?
No doubting that Bob is a sheepdog.
On the valley floor horizon to horizon sunflowers. Since we've been here the big farming conglomerates have been snapping up the property of family farms. Hedges ploughed, trees felled. The fields swelling ten fold in size. Not necessarily an uglier landscape. Just a less varied one.
At the supermarket thousands of small snails are climbing the fences. The metal cladding on the electricity substation particularly popular. Why do they do this ? Must be something to do with a storm on the way and they want to get away from any flooding.
And here's some quiet Sunday morning music : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdgkCCn45_I
Alas, Angus, most mornings I look like heaven only knows what, and although I wouldn't dream of ferreting for dead mice anywhere, I have a Lab. who would ! Yesterday it was a well-rotted highly whiffy dead fish - Sophie would have loved it !
ReplyDeleteWhiffy dead fish ! What joy it is to be alive .
DeleteThe music is beautiful - a perfect start to the day, thanks.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a snail swarm before!
Swarming snails must be a French thing.
DeleteOh my...that's a fine escargatoire right there.
ReplyDeleteSophie sure is a tom-boy - and we wouldn't have her any other way.
Tom-boy ? Some other words have coined to describe Sophie !
DeleteSophie looks beatific.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry. It won't last.
DeleteWeather predicting snails....that's new....to us.
ReplyDeleteWe're now enjoying a season of election recriminations!
You mean like in Queensland ?

Sophie is a girl that really loves her "protein" doesn't she - At least the snails aren't on her menu, not yet anyway!
ReplyDeleteTo get away from Sophie. That's obviously the reason why the snails climb out of reach .
DeleteLast year, in Texas, I saw my first snail carrying it's little house around. It was very small, and after I took it's picture, I couldn't see it, even when I zoomed in. The pictures you posted today are monster snails! WOW !!!
