New character 1

Did I say yesterday that the location of the sausage dispensing hotel kitchen was hardwired into Sophie's brain ? How right I was. This morning we find ourselves back at the exact same spot. The breakfast chef emerges, has a lengthy chat with Sophie, disappears and then re-emerges with half a pork sausage. This I will wager is going to be a fixed point in Sophie's day.

Down the hill to the harbour. This morning we watch a heron, a flock of geese, half a dozen cormorants and some small brown fluffy ducks of a breed I've never seen before.

Scotland has become quasi-continental since we last lived here. Street cafes full of folks laughing and enjoying themselves in the morning sunshine.

We're spending a night or two in the wee house before the purchase of the new property is finalized. The kitchen fridge provides evidence that the last tenants were  soda loving Americans.

  1. That really is a lot of soda! Sophie may be disappointed if there are no sausage-dispensing breakfast chefs at your final destination, but perhaps you will not be too far away to make an occasional visit.

  2. Poor Sophie - just as she's found a source of sausages, she'll be on the move again.

  3. I hope Angus and the Font are enjoying their short sojourn in St Andrews as much as Sophie evidently is.
Can't believe the tenants didn't go native and convert to Irn Bru!
    Cheers, Gail.

One suspects the chef has found a new morning routine of his own and will miss Sophie after forming an immediate and firm connection!!! Then again, perhaps the new home is within coo-ee... YAM xx

  6. One noticeable difference between the street cafes in the two places is that in Scotland the people are wearing long sleeves!
All that pop is definitely not good for you!

  7. The only thing that appears to be missing is a trip to a bakery.

  8. There are a lot of cleaning hacks on YouTube for using Cola to removing rust to cleaning the toilet. Ha Ha

  10. Pork sausage for Sophie and a chance for M'Ongoose to exchange a few words in French?

  11. I'm pining for Scotland!

Purchasing a house up there was just so much more efficient than in England. Estate agents and solicitors both professional, friendly and helpful. It was almost as if they actually enjoyed their jobs!

    Sophie will miss Msr Saucisse.

I hope all goes well over the next few days.

  14. seems no time since you were isolated in St Andrews - totally unsuspecting of the upheaval/ serendipity/change ahead - can't believe how much has happened in that time! Enjoying the journey - but glad it is behind you now.
