There is nothing as delicious as a truly fresh, ripe pineapple. There would be a guy at the market, chopping them into wedges with a big panga (machete). He lopped off the bottom, then the sides, using the leaves as a handle, then would cut long wedges that were sold for a shilling. Sweet heaven.
