Silent gratitude isn't much use to anyone.

Sophie returns from the vets. Everything fine. Thanks to a strategically placed biscuit she's oblivious to the stitches coming out. Tee-shirt wearing certainly kept the dressing clean.

Overnight brother and sister share their pen. Sophie wears a tee-shirt in case Bob is tempted to lick the scar. The change in both of them remarkable. Immediately calmer. Bob happy in the way that only a sheepdog can be.

The builders increased working tempo seems to have slackened off. The mirror and radiator are up in one of the bathrooms  but that leaves a mountain of work to be done today.

Our solar powered pool cover motor has disappeared to that place from whence solar powered pool cover motors never return. The service agent once again not bothering to answer the phone.

Seven am. The gardeners arrive to trim the laurel hedge. Bob and Sophie greet them enthusiastically. Their enthusiasm dims when the noisy petrol powered hedge cutters get to work. They lie in the orchard, Sophie behind Bob, wondering what sort of  infernal beasts have invaded their domain. The gardeners have brought biscuits.

  1. It's good to see them together again. Hopefully they'll sleep through the night now!

  2. The bathroom does look smart. I hope that you are able to squeeze a drop more out of those workmen before they evaporate. I have all of this to look forward to shortly.
Clever biscuit bearing gardeners. Husband has just arrived at the Convent to find several new elderliness in the courtyard and 6 foot high weeds. All this since the end of April!
Those puppies look very peaceful together in their pen.
    Have a great day.

    1. Elders. Not elderliness. Sometimes this computer is too clever (or stupid) for it's own good.

  3. So pleased all's going well with Sophie. Happy healthy PONs are so much more important than completed building works and functioning pool cover motors after all.

  4. Yay for biscuits! Considerate gardeners. Somehow we think the bathrooms won't be finished until September....just a hunch and we hope we're wrong.

The pups look so relaxed now that things are back to normal...for awhile.

  5. Puppy Bliss.

Is there any chance of Sophie demonstrating how she ties her tee-shirt so eloquently? Kittys op due soon and this looks perfect for her but we can't quite tell how to knot it underneath.

    Thank You x

    1. 2 steps. Pull the tee-shirts excess fabric and tie it in a knot on top. Do the same underneath. That should make it snug enough not to fall off. If there's not enough fabric to make a knot underneath then take a piece of material and tie it up.

  6. Great news about Sophie. Now she and Bob are reunited, and the frolicking, digging, scampering can begin again. I see Sophie is back amongst her garden pots again, and getting some pointers from the gardeners while she's at it. The universal law of canine attraction...snacks.....works every time.
The bathroom is looking good, I hope the builders at least make it workable before they leave. I see the shower is in place, so if the faucets and toilet are installed and working, make the most of it...I'm sure your guests will understand.
The photo of the two angels sleeping together again is priceless.
Wishing you all a good day.

  9. I think Bob and Sophie are the "bait" to get the workmen to your house, why else would everyone arrive with biscuits? They are superstars in your neck of the woods. Happy Friday.

  12. Hooray for Stitchless Sophie! She really was a champ through this surgery business. But I see no mattresses (German or otherwise) for all night sleeping, pups seem to be happily sprawled on the tile. Cool, too, I bet!

    Cheers,

  13. Calmer PONs --> happy people. Glad all is well on the medical front.
Is that a heater or a towel rack on the bathroom wall? Perhaps a towel dryer? Forgive ignorance, but haven't seen those in the US.

    1. The most powerful bathroom radiator we could find to combat those winter mornings. It is of course German.

  18. I can't help but smile at the thought of Bob and Sophie back together.

Do you have some kind of electronic flag in your file the draws all these insane workmen to your domain? I'm sorry about all the hassles!
