It's a DOGE eat DOGE world says the presenter on the BBC breakfast radio bulletin with a touch of wry humour.
We downsized from the big Volvo to the small BMW to make parking easier. That logic can't be disputed. The new car manages to fit easily into parking spots the old one couldn't. What we didn't allow for is the legroom - or the lack of it - in the rear seats. You could fit three tall Scandinavians in the back of the Volvo but you'd be lucky to fit two six year olds in the back of the BMW. With a stream of family and friends heading here for the summer the practicalities of what is effectively a two seat car became the topic of conversation over dinner last night. Why is it neither of us tried out the rear seats when buying it ? We also discover that the boot is the size of a postage stamp. Perhaps a second hand Land Rover as a back-up is the solution ?
The calves on the village green are getting bigger . They're also getting braver.
Cornflowers appearing everywhere. Every week a new flower type seems to come into bloom while the prior weeks wild flowers fade gently away.

Having a Land Rover as a backup vehicle when living rurally is probably a sound decision... doesn't have to be fancy, just high and four by four! YAM xx
And it can seat more than two and has luggage space !
A second hand Land Rover could also be used as your 'Dog-E' in the future. Over many years I learnt none of my dogs ever cared what brand or age of car I owned (one was 30 years old!) just as long as there were fun adventures to enjoy with us.
That was "Dog-E" car.
PS I went to the "Auckland Brit and Euro Classic Car Show" a couple of months ago and there were some great old Land Rovers. Maybe you and the Font could pick a year that is special (e.g. the year you met) and enjoy owning a vehicle from that year as your 2nd car.
Landrovers and the wandering steering wheel - we were discussing this yesterday, and there is a good reason for it. Not a vehicle to be driven on a motorway or indeed any decently surfaced road.
It has been a while since you had two cars in the family.
I loved the story about the nine-armed octopus and also the warning about pre-surgery bacteria that might unexpectedly climb onto the bed.
I’m short, my husband tall. Frequently when guests visit, the female part of the couple end up in the back seat with me so we can chat during the drive. (Men in front.) Therefore, when looking at a new car, I always verify the back seat foot area is big enough for comfortable touring.

It might be nice as well to have a second car with a greater than 50 mile driving radius...
Cornflowers may be appearing everywhere but the flower pictured is a scabiosa, commonly called a pincushion flower. The pictures of the cows are especially lovely.
Get the second hand Land Rover. It will be of great help should you want to get plants, dispose of or buy large items etc. Angus, I want to thank you for writing your blog. I’ve read it for years and it’s made me laugh, think and learn more than I usually would.I’ve cried when your dogs have passed because after reading your tales of them it felt like I knew them. “See” you tomorrow.
