16 degrees yesterday. This is as warm as it gets on many a summers day. By mid-afternoon the beach was busy with townsfolk and students enjoying the sunshine. The braver students went swimming. The local restaurants, ever alert for ways to bring in the punters , have started advertising 'Thanksgiving' menus. These are hugely popular with homesick American teens. The locals think it decidedly odd that turkey should be eaten so close to Christmas.

A large portion of the world is devastated. There may be lots of comfort eating in the form of mince pies. YAM xx
I'm afraid the Santorini illusion might not survive the arrival of more seasonal November weather...
Cheers Gail (who just a few minutes ago received a lengthy email from one of those devastated older women in the USA).
Agree with YAM-aunty and Gail. The results of the poll just confirm that older women have far more sense.
I still can't believe it. A lying felon??
I may be the only one to see this connection, but the chart shows me that men have gotten off far too easily when it comes to an unplanned pregnancy. I wish someone would devise a way to identify every man. every time, ensuring that the man's life is as devastated as a woman's. (This is observational - I have never been pregnant, so it's not some kind of personal vendetta).
Wish we were there to share the day.
Some restaurants and hotels in Tokyo also served Thanksgiving menus, but it never felt "right", so we started having Thanksgiving dinner at home with my husband's students. It was challenging - I remember measuring our tiny oven and then measuring the turkeys in the supermarket to find one that would fit - but it was more like real Thanksgiving for us as well as an exotic foreign experience for the students. I am trying ever so hard to keep away from the post-election media, but I will admit the chart was fascinating. The older women obviously remembered what it was really like in the good old days.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful Scottish Santorini day.
