Free daffodils.

Lots of student runners on the beach this morning.

A couple of Korean golfers teeing off outside the Royal and Ancient clubhouse. If you want to play a round on the Old Course come here in February when the wind whipping off the North Sea deters any but the most ardent devotees of the sport.

Heart shaped 'Valentine' fudge donuts in the bakers window. These have proven to be wildly successful with the student population. Yesterday, the bakers had sold out by mid-morning . Not one, but two, extra batches were needed.

Down by the bandstand we glimpse two amorous teddy bears in the window of a student flat.

The supermarket is selling daffodils for £1 a bunch. Because I've spent more than £30 a bunch is provided 'gratis'.

The world may be turbulent but you wouldn't know it in this small town on the North Sea.

I got to read the first article- and you are right; it is very well written, not to say insightful- but can’t get past the paywall to the second.

Thank you for making me read that. It doesn’t help my sense of burgeoning doom, but it does help me understand what we are losing.

WHAT have we done????

I must admit, the heart-y doughnuts actually look inviting... The subject and message of the NA article are strong and definitely important. My editing eye, however, would reduce it by about a third, removing extraneous words and repititious sentences... (and like all who have undertaken editing, be faced with cries of "cruelty"!) YAM xx

Oh, the hardy February golfers!
I found the first article quite thought provoking.
I never was a fan of the Beatles (unlike every female my age in my day) and I still am not a fan of Paul McCartney.
