At first light we make it down the track from the courtyard to the shore. It's so wet we just come straight back home again and change into dry clothes. The cormorants are in their element. High winds, jagged rocks and pounding seas. What could be better ? Italy play Scotland in Rome tonight so I bring up a bottle of Margaux from the cellar and open it in readiness. In cold, damp weather like this the wine needs all the help it can get.

Angus, be careful you don't miss the match... it starts at ten past two in the afternoon, the England v Wales match is the early evening one. As for the thought of custard in a cake... hmmmm we expect reports here, too! YAM xx
Thank you for the Anna Lapwood video. She's someone I greatly admire and hope to attend one of her performances some day. From Chancellors to camouflage to coffee cream/custard cake...I swear I learn something new from your blog everyday.
The cake looks yummy. Regarding the chicken lawsuit, a law professor once impressed on me, that any idiot with $50 can file, winning is an entirely different matter.
If you swap the coffee icing for chocolate icing that would be a Boston Cream Pie. Enjoy.
Enjoyed the links today especially Anna Lapwood. Temperature this morning -25C wind chill -35C. Several more inches of snow yesterday. At this rate we will have snow until next winter. North shore of Lake Ontario.
