The man with anger management issues telephones from France with the news that the current mayor has been voted out and a new one voted in. This was one of those 52-48 electoral surprises that no one expected. The outgoing mayor is not happy and has been less than gracious. In his concession speech he observed how apt it was that the new mayor owned the local septic tank company. He then went on to describe why.
The ploughing in the fields around the last wee house before Denmark is finished. Yesterday the farmer unearthed another bronze age cist and what he thinks may be a fallen standing stone . The local policeman will be called to come out and certify that the unearthed bones are not 'recent'.

Alumna of St Leonard's here, coming at you from the snowy Alps. I do so enjoy your posts about everyday life. Thanks.

The signage at the gardens bring food for thought... the food on display, a little less edifying! It's returned to winter here, so I'm glad I kept the shawls and knee blankies close by. YAM xx
From your old posts it seemed that the just-voted-out mayor had some big shoes to fill, although it also sounds like maybe he actually wasn't the right man for the job. Our town has just voted in a new major - not NR, whew - and he seems to have a plan for "improving" our quiet little neighborhood with a new plaza, fountain, cafes, etc. We are not too sure about this, but it seems that one important goal of any French mayor is to do something that justifies a big plaque with their name on it. We have a wonderful garden center near us - a Botanic - and they also have a nice little roofed cafe. We'll be off to Botanic sometime this week, as they are having a 15% off everything sale through the weekend.
We can just imagine the rest of the concession speech, but then the USA has the poster boy for ugly loser in an election.
Loved this mornings music from my childhood.
Well, the Lobster roll prices are certainly eye-watering.
Octopus hot dog? I'm not sure I could handle that, but I'm a landlocked "inlander"...
