The six am news broadcast leads with the possibility that there will be a two month ceasefire in the Gulf. It then lists a series of pre-conditions that the Iranians are expected to fulfil. Wisely, the bulletin goes on to say that more details may emerge during the day. One of those extremely serious Washington think tank types with a gravely voice expresses his view that America won the war but Iran has won the ceasefire. This is a great sound bite but is memorable more for its imprecision than its practicality. Faced with uncertainty I've filled up the little cars petrol tank ( Now £1.57 a litre. A month ago it was £1.39 ) and arranged for the heating oil to be topped up. Let's hope this unpleasantness with Iran is over and not just taking a pause. Meanwhile the poor residents of Kyiv have faced another heavy attack.
Down on the shore a Golden Retriever is living the best life. The ball is thrown, retrieved and then thrown again. This goes on for at least half an hour. The dog seems tireless .

It used to be an insult to say of somebody they are living like a dog... now (at least in 'the west') it might be something desirable! Daily bed, board, play, medical, grooming, affection... and no responsibility beyond good behaviour and focus on the provider... sigh... meanwhile most of the human world is living the 'dog eat dog' version of things... YAM xx
Some mornings the past 40 years feels like a long weekend.
So refreshing to read the list of good news. Still hoping that more good news will be announced between Washington and Iran

The second picture of the dog racing in the surf is pure happiness.
I wonder if Charlie could be somehow related to that Golden Retriever? I know how you feel about time passing quickly. This coming Tuesday will be three years since we moved into our house here, and I'm still unpacking. The article about Japanese companies was interesting, but he missed something important - in Japan, it is generally not acceptable for an older person to supervise a younger person. So as people move up the corporate pyramid, the company need a place to park those who aren't going to make it up to the next level, and they do this by sending them off to affiliates that can fit them in at a higher position. After watching my Japanese friends go through this over and over, I concluded that the Japanese system, while different, can be just as tough as the US one.
