More snow.

'The Font' leaves an hour earlier than usual and is waved through the police check point at the airport roundabout by what I'm told is a gendarme with ''kind eyes". A detail only 'The Font ' would comment on. The Volvo is one of the last cars through before the farmers arrive. 16 tractors with their fork lifts loaded to the gunnel's with cow dung. Half a minute  later and the day would have taken a very different and altogether more pungent direction. The riot police seem hesitant about intervening to stop the farmers blocking the airport terminal.

Back at The Rickety Old Farmhouse the PONs and their owner come to terms with a cold winter day punctuated by snow showers.  At the bakers we buy croissants, a 'six cereals' loaf and a cake. Bob and Sophie get choux pastry crumbs from the bottom of a baking tray. This makes them very happy.

Angus thinks it's too cold to be out. The PONs disagree. They lie contentedly in the courtyard as 'flocons' drift gently down from the sky. From time to time they decide to drag some snow indoors. They then decide to go outside again. Bob has that '' isn't this fun ? " look on his face.

The angelic duo finally come in as it's getting dark. After a quick game of touch rugby then settle in the downstairs hallway for a lengthy nap.

After dinner at 9:30  Angus settles down in front of the fire with a book. Next thing he knows it's midnight and there's a male PON nuzzling his knee to suggest that now might be a really good time to go out for a comfort break.

One of the most interesting things about dogs I've read in ages : https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2018/feb/05/dogs-chernobyl-abandoned-pets-stray-exclusion-zone

Something humorous about this painting of Caithness sheepdogs : https://www.facebook.com/scotlandsartistsprints/photos/a.201217656627785.48076.199154623500755/1566257136790490/?type=3

I saw the Chernobyl article too, and have read other fascinating articles about how wildlife has moved in and thrived in the evacuation zone.

A few hours after your post yesterday, I got the DepĂȘche headlines email, which led with the farmers at the airport. And I wondered about the Font's fate. Glad she made her flight.
That pain rustique campaillete is a bargain at €1,45.
East of Toulouse, the temperatures keep going down, but the sky is completely cloudless. Snow is forecast for Saturday.

Do we only see tales of touch rugby when the Font's away?

The Chernobyl story made me cry.

Friends flying to EDI from TLS today for Sunday's match (have you seen the new Ryanair direct flights?). They went down to TLS last night to avoid the blockades. I hope they have packed enough layers. It's BALTIC here

I really like that Caithness painting... There is hope in the dog story. Joy abounds for PONs when it snows; and the Mongoose can make his own hours! YAM xx

I hope there was a big bowl of soup to go with that bread!

Was the cake bought because the Font is gone....and illicit treat for the 'master'?

What a heartening story about the dogs of Chernobyl.
