A few rooks on the sand this morning. Apart from that we have the place pretty much to ourselves. It's peak term time in town. The small street that runs down to the library is busy with undergraduates rushing backwards and forwards. At this hour of the morning the ratio of male to female students seems to be about 1:4. The same holds true for runners on the beach. In the evening the ratio reverses. Can there be a rational explanation for this clear gender diversity ? Early birds and late owls? Hard working v less committed ?
The BBC breakfast programme reports on President Trumps plans for Gaza. A gentleman, introduced as Senator Thom Tillis, tells the listeners that ' There's probably a couple of kinks in that slinky'. We both agree that this is an insight that will leave many listeners on this side of the pond none the wiser.

I am now totally confused about this tragic and very public court case :https://www.tortoisemedia.com/2025/02/05/panel-of-experts-say-no-evidence-lucy-letby-murdered-babies

Slinkies were popular toys here too - they seem to come and go in fashion. My children certainly went through the Slinky phase in the late 1990s, so there may be marginal comprehension!

Yes, we had slinkies in the 1970s... and I saw them being advertised again recently. The Letby case is is disturbing for all sorts of reasons. I like the idea of invasion by food stealth... YAM xx
I could never quite see the point of slinkies.
The Letby case is worrying. Everyone is so strident in their views, but what is the truth?
I'm with you on that. It seemed so clear at the time of sentencing but now it looks as if the 'facts' - or at least some of them - were selective. Private Eye has consistently said the verdict was wrong.
I can still hear the slinky TV advertising song from the early 60's in my head. And to be sure, A kink in your slinky rendered the toy useless. The Letby case is very troubling indeed.
The assortment of newsworthy/noteworthy items in your post this morning makes one’s head spin!
A very tragic case. I am troubled by her diary entries.
