Vignettes of life.

A town dog has discovered that 1) the recently bought bacon roll has been finished and 2) it wasn't distributed in anything approaching an equitable manner. The enormity of this injustice doesn't seem to be understood by the human portion of his family.

We arrange to see the artist who paints the 'wonky' pictures of buildings in town. He will come over one day during the summer and do a painting of the wee house by the cathedral.

The gulls are aggressively out and about and looking for suitable materials to build their nests. There's no doubting the gulls are the true masters of the town. They were here long before humans made it their home and they have a look that says we'll be here long after you're gone. They are fearless.

That rarest sighting of all. Early rising students. Something you almost never see on a Monday morning. Exams start in three weeks which may explain this sudden diligence.

After Sundays services the Baptists are giving their ironwork a touch up.

So starts a quiet morning in a small Scottish town surprised to be enjoying a protracted spell of good weather.

I'm sure we all look forward to seeing the wee hoose's portrait once it's done! Hmm, yes, the yodelling got a bit OTT for the morning cuppa... possibly the arvo one too. Very interesting article on farm animal welfare. Of course, the best welfare would be to not farm them at all... (I can hear the eeaks and orks now...) YAM xx

That's a beautiful dog - I hope his owner realizes he must make up for this oversight. The article about animal welfare was very interesting to me as a vegetarian, but it also captured a basic economic principle that I've been thinking a lot about recently - "policies . . . can backfire if they don’t account for how consumers and industry [and maybe other countries?] actually respond." I am sure you will enjoy having a portrait of the wee house. My mother gave me a picture of the house where I grew up that was painted by a local artist. In the picture, the cherries are in blook, and I enjoy looking at it every springtime.

Yodelling is fascinating and that yodeller has a powerful and supple voice.
My heart was in my mouth, willing the owl on to a safe landing place.

The owl is utilizing a very good "butterfly" stroke. Speaking of animals in water, I highly recommend "Flow", the academy award winner in animation for 2025. Absolutely beautiful. And no speaking. It's on MAX (HBO) here. A must watch. Really.

If the Font’s cabin faces east, a painting of the view at sunrise might also be worth a few brush strokes on a wee canvas.
