That's January pretty much done and dusted. Where did the time go ? To say it went by quickly would be an understatement. Between Greenland, Epstein, Iran, Minneapolis, shutdown, Ukraine, more Epstein, threatening Canada and the end of NATO there's been enough drama to fill a whole year. Here in sleepy St Andrews the arrival of heart shaped 'Love' biscuits in the bakers adds our own touch of excitement to a hectic month.
There are lights on in some of the lecture theatres but the rain ( which has been constant for the last week and looks as if it's here for most of next week too ) seems to be deterring both students and tourists.

Some years, when things get off to a bad start, I decide we will celebrate Chinese New Year's rather than January 1. This seems to be one of those years, so we have another couple of weeks to get things sorted out. The Substack about the three individuals' first contact with America was very interesting. I think it is really confusing right now for people like my husband, who spent about ten or twelve years in the US as a student and educator, to comprehend what's going on. Maybe you and the Font are experiencing this as well. Just last year, he recommended that one of his former students in Japan send her daughter to college in the US and then struggled with whether he had done the right thing. She is now at a school less than an hour outside Minneapolis, having a great experience so far, thankfully. Now, my son is hoping to get into a Ph.D program at the University of Tennessee, and I feel like the farmer's wife thinking about the World Cup

the curse of 'interesting times' is rolling out thick and fast.
Meanwhile, as it is rather darkly coloured, I am pretty sure that's a Blackbird, not a Thrush. And all I could think about when reading about the 3D food was the film Soylent Green... YAM xx
I'm always happy to get January and February out of the way. March is the start of spring in my book.
Time flies, and not just when we are having fun.
The bakers offerings mark the seasons very well indeed!
