The weather remains awful. Even the BBC has woken up to just how bad it is :https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c20zv56626zo Aberdeen did manage to get half an hour of sunshine yesterday which I'm sure was welcome.
While I speak to the Manhattanites 'The Font' goes to a student music competition. An 18 year old from China wins 1st prize. One of the joys of living in a small town with a university is access to world class music. The judges provide advice that is warm, practical and kind.

I know your weather has been bad, it was on the TV news over here in New Zealand,… a change from talking about our own dreadful weather! Or, if you really want penance, Trump’s latest disaster out decision.

Well, for the first time in the year I can report a clear(ish) blue sky and sunny morning from Clyde Firth... unexpected but oh so welcome. YAM xx
Agree with Virginia- summer is now the rainy season for most of Nz
My brother and sister-in-law, who live in Dorset, are visiting us on their way back from two weeks in Morocco. Their last stop was in Marrakech, although not such a fancy hotel. They are currently dreading going back to rainy Dorset. At least it is clouding up here today after a beautiful warm day yesterday - that may help a little.
Blue skies and cool here in DC this morning, warming up over the next week. We still have a solid snow cover from almost three weeks ago (the longest cold spell in 30 years.)
After reading the AI article I'm glad I'm retired. Bright blue sky, no clouds -15C (10 degrees warmer than last week).
A very sad note about the puffins and auks. I'm glad they will be laid to rest with respect. Life is much too brief, sometimes unexpectedly so.
Wasn't 40 days of rain what drove you and the Font south many yeas ago?
Yes. Thank you for reminding us ! Next year we will head off to South Africa for four weeks.
We're experiencing exceptionally bad weather too and the very high winds have left us (locally) without inernet for the past two days.
Interesting to read in the local paper that most people think this is the worst winter we have had in Spain for many years. All the reservoirs are full to overflowing so hopefully there won't be the usual water shortages. Our skies very much resemble yours, and our blue skies and sunshine seem to have deserted us.
