Amazing light in Washington cathedral.
The camera on the i-Phone can't do it justice.
The stone looks as though it's been dyed.
Roundels of light dance across pillars. The effect is not dissimilar to the Sci-Fi effects in 1980's Star Trek movies.
To the side of the chancel flowers are being set out on the tomb of an American who died in 1918. It's the centenary of his death and someone, after all these years, is intent on remembering it. The man who's arranging the flowers thinks it might be the surviving family. The flowers and their arrangement are of a subtlety and sophistication that are worthy of a centennial memory.
We'll be heading home soon and will pick up Bob and Sophie tomorrow night. The kennel owner has sent occasional e-mails assuring us that they're well and enjoying their 'vacation'. This is improbable but ensures repeat business.

Oh, I love the Cathedral; the Children's Chapel is my favorite! The needlepoint cushions throughout are just amazing. Those flowers are so lovely...
Beautiful light through the stained glass.
The words engraved on that tomb seems to include "aviators", so perhaps it was someone from the Lafayette Escadrille?
You have no idea how much the calm of the ROF has been missed this last week. Safe home.

We missed you all... travel safe home. YAM xx
Looking forward to hearing about the reunion at the kennel. Wonderful subtle colors in that arrangement.
I do realize you have been away for only two weeks, but much has happened. How will we all ever get caught up? My morning coffee did not even taste the same! Thank you for the pictures of beauty and serenity.
Thank you for the pictures from inside the cathedral. I have never seen stain glass cast such magnificent light.
