Christmas music #8

The weekends storm has swept a dozen or so lobster creels onto the rocks. The farmer has dutifully collected them from the foreshore and stacked  them up so that Lob the fisherman can come and collect them later in the week. On our morning walk down the track  to the beach we meet one of the Jack Russells. She is greatly taken with the creels and their scent of old lobster.

Ten seconds later 'Puppy' ( who is now an accomplished young lady ) arrives to join her elder sister. 'Puppy' has found a stick and is delighted with her find.

A black Spaniel follows. He is determined to make the stick his own. The dogs rush past us on their way towards the farmhouse. They are far too busy to acknowledge our presence. For village dogs life is good.

Although it's early town is full of dog walkers (and their dogs) enjoying a leisurely outing after the recent winds. Yesterday, we noticed that footfall on the shopping street is picking up with visitors from Edinburgh arriving to walk on the golf course, have a leisurely lunch and do some Christmas shopping. We're halfway through the first of two weeks set aside for exams so the students are keeping a low profile. By this time next week the shuttle service to the airport will be booked solid with youngsters heading home.

Mince Pies now on sale everywhere. We've ordered ours from Bettys in York and expect their delivery at the end of next week :https://www.bettys.co.uk/christmas/mince-pies . The local farm shop sells mince pies with white sugar icing. Angus approves of this innovation. If anything happens to our Bettys order we can always come here. In the pre-holiday rush we're finding that couriers are taking three or four days to get here rather than the more usual one or two.
