Every day for the better part of fifteen years one of the first people to comment on the blog has been Gail at https://nicenobbynaughtynobby.blogspot.com/ . She has seen generations of PONs come and go and through her blog we have met and laughed with her dogs Hamish, Bertie and now, most recently, Nobby. Her daily presence as a commentor has been a welcome constant.
Sadly, a few weeks ago we received a calm, dignified letter informing us that she had been given one of 'those' life changing doctors diagnoses. Subsequent events have moved more quickly and turbulently than anyone could have predicted. The enormity and rapidity of what has followed can scarcely be believed.
In the short time since the diagnosis she reached out to ensure Nobby her Wire Haired Terrier would be well looked after ( he is off to a farm where he will be much loved ) and dealt logically and sensibly with a world not so much in turmoil as over turned. A remarkably kind lady at https://inimaynaelcammeno.blogspot.com/ has been an angel at a time like this. The latest blog post describes what has happened.
To be mourned by a world of people you've never met has to be a testament to a life well lived. It is also, perhaps, a sign the world of dog blogs retains a courtesy and humanity and intelligence lacking elsewhere amongst 21st century social media . If you get a chance do drop by her blog and say a little prayer for Gail and her family in the days ahead.

Thank you many times over for this post. Given my comment on the previous post, if you wish to delete it, that's fine. As ever your erudition shines and I know that Gail would want me to convey her respects to you for many years of morning joy. YAM xx
Thank you Angus for this post.
Thank you for this Angus, Gail will be truly missed.YAM is indeed an Angel.
I have missed Gail's voice. I am praying and thankful that Gail has been surrounded by loving arms. TY Yamini. Love to Nobby.
Thank you, Angus. Gail will be very much missed.
Some people question whether one can become a friend without ever meeting "in the flesh." Our friendships with Gail refute that idea. I had always thought I'd get to Aberdeen to take a hike with Gail and Bertie, and then Nobby. Sadly, that's not to be. But that doesn't diminish our friendship.
Thank you, Angus, for gently sharing this heartbreaking news with us. Sending wishes of peace and comfort to Gail and to all who love her.
Beyond sad and distressed to read the news of Gail's health. I'm so very grateful to you and Yam Auntie for so kindly and gently letting us know of the situation facing our very much respected and loved Gail. My heart hurts for dear Knobby, her friends and family. Prayers for all in the days to come.
Thank you for this very sad post this morning. I have always enjoyed Gail’s smart and humorous comments to your blog. Gail has always seemed full of life and adventure with her beloved dogs and friends. She has been delightfully generous to share her dogs’ antics with many of us who do not know her personally but feel we do because of her blog. She will be dearly missed. In her final days, I hope she knows she is surrounded with love by those nearby and those of us who live half a world away.
So sorry, not anonymous, Camille in NH
Oh, I am so sorry to read these posts from Angus and Yam. I have lost two dear friends to this terrible illness, and I know what a sudden storm it brings. Gail's posts are always a joy to read, and she reached out to me very kindly when my son was considering Aberdeen a few years ago. I will miss her every day.
Indeed what a sad sad shock. Gail has always been an imspiration for me with her careful approach to what's best for her darling dogs and her love of the outdoors and cycling. Hamish, Bertie, Nobby...we shared her love for each of them. And of course as a wire-hairrd fox terrier mom. I felt pride at all that Bertie and Nobby accomplished under her guidance. Thank you Angus for letting us know what Gail is going through and thank you Auntie Yam for your loving care. It's so hard to comprehend. With love. Joan
