Stoic calmness.

A trip to the vets is on the cards for Sophie. She gets Frontline tablets every month. These are supposed to deal with worms and fleas but she's managed to get some sort of mite infestation. This is the downside to being an accomplished badger poo hunter and venturing into all sorts of inaccessible places.

At the storm drain I sit and explain the cause of Sophie's scratching to Bob. He absorbs the news with stoic calmness. The school bus driver and the farmers in their little white vans all wave at this strange foreigner who is sitting at the roadside chatting merrily away to his two shaggy companions. Today we also deal with the timing of the next summit between America and North Korea. Secretary Pompeo 'hopes' it will take place in weeks. Bob thinks 'hope' is a good basis on which to run foreign policy. Angus is less sure.

The cafe is closed. The owners has put up a sign saying she gets irritable and that to deal with it she's taking a few days off. She's always taking a few days off .

We go into the bank to pick up new cash line cards but make a sudden and determined retreat. Sophie has noticed there's already a canine customer there. Neither she nor the canine customer take their chance meeting in silence.

We detour to the busy cafe on the square. A croissant and a bowl of water restore the PONs equanimity.

Thank you Angus for the best music ever. Itching? Harvest mites? I would have thought the badger poo helps - loads of beneficial bacteria... :) Our itchy one does well on omega 3 tabs as a supplement.

ps: I love the fact that you have a cafe owner who explains how she's feeling and why she's closed.

Everyone should take the day off work when irritable and listen to Vaughan-Williams music instead.

The sign about the cafe closing looks to be written using a sharpie - Could this be a local version of "sharpie-gate?"

Hope the medication works for Sophie! When I was in Tennessee this summer, I opted to not take the dogs into the Smokey Mountain National Park because I was worried about "mites" as well.

We found that Frontline never relieved Miss Pops of fleas and left her distressed for up to four hours after application. We have switched to Bravecto that is applied every 3 months and has done the job, and leaves her annoyed for about 20 minutes. It comes in a dog version so might be worth a try.

Hope Miss Sophie feels better soon.

Thanks. Think its called GardEx here in France. Will ask the vet if he has it and give it a try .

Maybe the cafe owner is worried about a hurricane ?

Vaughan Williams excepted that's a very French approach.

You're right about the helpful bacteria but badger poo also tends to be found in dark, damp midge infested special places . Sophie can of course find THE most dark and damp places.

To avoid canine moments we shall try the bank later in the week and earlier in the day.

I hate to learn of Sophie’s mite condition. But going to the Vet gives her an opportunity to see her adoring fans! I am grateful Bob’s neck lump/bump is OK status. Morning music selection was a pleasant way to greet a Monday, thank you.
