Great photo

The 'fancy' ladies clothing store has a new 'winter season' window display.

It's centred around a rather fine photo of a young Mongolian girl and a camel. They seem to be laughing in synch.

An unusual choice for a window display in Scotland but one that makes us smile.

In the absence of students, as you may be able to tell,  the little town remains unnaturally quiet. We meet one of the beach wardens who is out early counting birds. He reckons there are more than 1700 Oystercatchers on the sand this morning. The numbers are up over last year and 2023. No sign , yet, of any Lapwings.

Although entirely random, that photograph has an uplifting quality that comes across even from your own photograph of it. Well worth commenting on... and thank you for the link to J Clements page - I tracked off into different articles there for half an hour! YAM xx

That is a wonderful photo. It must be that they are selling Mongolian cashmere? As to birds, we don't usually have much variety where we live, but yesterday I saw two Indian ringneck parakeets in one of our trees. We used to see wild parakeets in Los Angeles and Tokyo, but this is the first time here.

It is a great image, and if they can stay warm and prosper in Mongolia, St Andrews will feel like a day at the beach.

Excellent photo within a photo! Perhaps there is a market for Mongolian knitwear?

I've always loved that photo and have seen it many times before. Titled "Inner Mongolian Child" by photographer Han Chengli, the color version is stunning. BTW, her name is Butedmaa and she was five. Sadly, I don't know the name and age of the camel.
