I open the door to take out the rubbish and within a nano-second there's a visitor in the kitchen. From the state of the visitors paws and fur I can safely assume she's been down on the coast chasing the Shags.
We go to collect the sheets from the dry cleaners. The trees in the park by the football ground grab our attention.
They're covered in shoes. Does this have a meaning ? All the shoes are neatly tied onto branches. Some of them a good twenty feet above the ground. Getting them up there can have been no easy matter.
Fudge donuts once again on sale in the bakers. We're back in term time and student tastes are being catered for. The lad behind the counter tells me there's been a run on strawberry tarts this morning. There's only five left. " A girl came in and bought a dozen " he adds. I'm not sure how to respond to this so reply with what I hope is a surprised sounding ' Goodness me '.

It puts a different complexion on 'shoe tree.'

In Sydney, if a pair of shoes appeared on the telegraph lines in one's street, there was cause for concern... as it signalled that one could obtain illegal substances from the home beside where they hung. (They were flung up there, which is why they are tied together to form a sort of grapple.) This collection, however, I am more inclined to think is some sort of ritual thought up by the returnees! Then again... YAM xx
What a wonderful bakery. Did puppy place her order?
Puppy appears very confident you're going to come up with something good to reward her for her efforts chasing the Shags. Charlie went to the groomer's this morning after bathing in mud all weekend and was then taken to the boulangerie for a curly croissant end. I used to be skeptical whether Bob and Sophie really liked croissants, but now I know better.
Puppy does look very much at home in your kitchen.
Will the owners of those shoes retrieve them at the end of the year, or will they just rot away amongst the branches!
Dogs are way ahead of humans in the croissant enjoyment league tables.
Puppy got a Jacobs Cream Cracker which seems to have hit the right spot.
Thank you for the norwegian article on not falling out of bed. "Goodness me" Said, I hope, with the proper inflexion.
Dear Font & Angus - Last year you shared an obituary written for a man who lived as a religious hermit (I think in Yorkshire). His life was remarkable, and the obituary very moving. Would you please provide me the link? Thank you kindly, Shari, Aberdeen, MD, USA
