'Largely finished'

Angus opens the far gates so that the assorted tradesemen can bring their vans into the courtyard. The lady from the Water Board chooses to park her car by the other gates. It only partially blocks the lane.

The laws on septic tanks have changed again. Our 18th century brick cisterns are no longer in 'conformity'.
The lady from the Water Board says that we'll get a grant for bringing The Rickety Old Farmhouses plumbing into the 21st century.

Bob chases builders vans up and down the drive. When he's not chasing builders vans he chases squirrels.

Back in the kitchen some of the door handles have been fitted. Others haven't. The extractor hood has a malfunction but the suppliers will be along after Easter to 'sort it out'. The wall lights have got a wiring problem. The shop in Paris says it will take eight weeks to order new ones. The kitchen fitters inform us that the work will be 'largely finished by Easter'. The word 'largely' has yet to be more precisely defined.

Are Guests expected for Easter?

A grant....that's got to be good, unless it takes years to come through.

Oh joy...time to get the septic tank looked at. Again.
I wish you luck in sorting out the 'loose ends'. Eight weeks for replacements is not good form.Lack of good service strikes again. I feel your pain.
Hopefully none of this will spoil your Easter.

Chasing builders vans is just the thing to keep the waistline trim. If you could persuade Sophie to join her little brother in this happy pursuit she'll soon look as sleek as he is.

None of this will spoil our Easter. If we'd wanted an 'uneventful' life we'd never have come to France !

We have a downstairs kitchen so no harm done or entertaining interrupted.

Grants are good. The paperwork less so.

If only she wasn't such a keen recycler !

Er, isn't it Good Friday already?

Surprisingly, Friday isn't a holiday but Monday is.

Easter! What year?
More troubling is the renovation of the cisterns. Hired loos in the garden....

It might be prudent to inquire "which Easter".

It really depends on what length "largely" is, it's probably like a piece of elastic - stretchable ! Will they be working on Saturday too ?
Eight weeks for new lights seems somewhat excessive, even for France.
Enjoy a peaceful Easter - and that fantastic egg !.

Hello Angus! I'm out of town on (family) business, and have enjoyed catching up (yet again!) on your blog. I think the new kitchen looks wonderful and looks like it's "largely" coming together!

I hope your Easter is an enjoyable one.
