Thibault.

The builders substituted cheaper, bright orange, roof tiles for the ones specified. The sub-standard tiles are taken off the village hall roof and stacked at the side of the churchyard. New ones are delivered. The mayor informs me that the substitute tiles were ' clearly Spanish '.

A barrier has gone up in front of the Salle des Fetes door. This is to stop the hunters from using it for their weekly gathering. Thanks to a combination of the roof being tile less and a week of constant torrential rain the floor is now awash with a couple of inches of water.

A flashing sign that says 'Joyeuses Fetes' has been installed in the village hall window. An electric cable runs from the wall socket to the sign, through the water.

Bob finds the new barrier intriguing. He christens it carefully.

This morning Sophie is sporting her 'Lenin' beard look.

In the supermarket concourse a retired gentleman settles down on a bench. He is accompanied by a small grey dog of indeterminate pedigree. Every so often the dog, all five pounds of it, leaps to its feet and races towards an unsuspecting shopper snarling and growling like a thing possessed. The shoppers glare. The unconcerned gentleman says ' Calm down Thibault. Calm down '. Thibault seems to have an aversion to female shoppers in trousers. Everyone else he ignores. The gentleman looks as if he does this every day. A way of meeting people ?

Those little things in life too unimportant for a diary but somehow too important to go completely unrecorded.

Thibaut's owner looks like he should spend more time walking his dog and less time sitting inside supermarkets! And as all dog owners know, a tired dog is a good dog.
Cheers, Gail.

My thoughts too, when I noticed the rotund shape of Thibault's owner. The dog looks slim, so perhaps the mistress walks him.
It's to be hoped that the electricians who erected the sign in the village hall will never be needed to work on the ROF !

Thibault needs to behave himself when he's out in a social setting. His owner also needs to shorten his leash if he insists on sitting where there are passersby....some child may be terrified at a dog rushing over like that.
Ms. Sophie must have looked at this five pound ball of scruff with pure disdain.

A dog in a supermarket? Must be France Profonde

Sophie's Lenin-look is perfect. Shouldn't be trimmed, I'd say. Perhaps Bob's should be allowed to grow
longer too.
The new odd-jobs man has his work cut out for him getting the Salle back in order. Certainly hope the roof
on the church with its restored frescoes is still intact.

Oh my goodness. Was Thibault contented with lunging and snarling, or was nipping involved?

Thibault was all sound but little fury.

Yes indeed.

With the cold weather due to arrive this week their har will be allowed to grow.

Thibault ignores children - only women shoppers of a certain age in trousers seemed to alarm him.

One of those figures that suggests he its there all day.

At the end of the day Thibault is probably exhausted. As for his master ?

OK.... Let's go through this again. How far is this Salle des Fetes fire hazard from the ROF?!?!?

Standing water on the floor of the Salles des Fetes and an electrical cable running through it. What could possibly go wrong?
"Joyeuses Fetes", indeed.
