Red bananas

Summer is going out in style. Ferociously hot and humid. This morning Sophie is given a bath. She's scooped up and put under the shower before she can complain. Surprise is the secret to dog grooming.

Bob celebrates his sisters misfortune by doing a jig with Furry Fox in his mouth. His sodden sister chases him round and round and round the garden. Within ten minutes she's completely dry and he's exhausted.

The old donkey is on his feet today. He wanders slowly, very slowly, over to the fence to greet us. I pat him on top of his head. The younger donkeys hold back but eventually summon up the courage to come over and stare at the PONs. Sophie stands behind my legs and stares back. Bob wanders off in search of some badgers poo. Tomorrow we'll bring carrots.

Red bananas in the greengrocers. Don't think red bananas have ever made it to Scotland.

Pumpkins also appear. It's going to be 40 degrees in the shade today and the radio is broadcasting heat warnings. The pumpkins are not selling well.

Why am I thinking that Macron is not really a 'dog person'?

France is a country of dog lovers. This may not have gone unnoticed in the Elysee.

The French element comes first in the name.

The heat is supposed to abate tomorrow. The days are one thing, but the nights are awful.

Bob and Sophie sleep with a fan trained on them.

Well, you just know that any pooch-loving Harry Potter fans out there are now going to be craving a Griffiondor... red bananas are found in the asian food markets here from time to time. They actually have a higher nutritional benefit than the yellow varieties... and that's my info tip of the day...YAM xx

Thank you for grounding us in the simple moments of each day. I can visualize the whole bath, chase Bob moment as well as the donkey.

The donkey will be grateful for your kindness

Sophie is lucky, at the weekend Inca had a shower under the fine spray from the hosepipe - well, we both did as I got soaked too ! Most refreshing. No chase afterwards as she doesn't have a Furry Fox or a delightful brother.
Raining here today, but it's likely to become sultry rather than cooler.

I'd no idea that a Lab-type dog was part of each French president's entourage. Hooray for Macron that he adopted from a shelter.
That venerable donkey looks very sweet, and fragile.

We resort to stealth grooming here, too.

Boldly and swiftly placing Millie in the tub seems the key to success. She’s initially too dazed to resist and then assumes an attitude of being martyred. I like imagining Bob doing a jig and being chased by a damp Sophie. What characters!
