Unusual slicing.

Bob gives his sister a morning kiss.

She, of course, noisily objects.

Across the road, on the other side of the church, work has started on the new petanque court. A bulldozer levels the ground. Three truck loads of earth will be delivered later today. This activity will keep the PONs engaged. The builder hopes to be able to finish the grass seeding before it rains.

Lots of bananas in the greengrocers.

And plantains.

The bakers haven't yet got back into the 'back to school' swing of things . However, the croissants are getting flakier. 6/10 this morning.

International cheeses make an appearance at the supermarket. Instead of cutting the cheese rounds into wedge shapes they slice them into 1/4" cross sections . This is unusual but not as unusual as the 'English traditional ' Cheddar with green onions that is on sale.

Reading the morning papers I must admit to being glad that life in a French village is anonymously '' dull ".

The so-called 'traditional' cheddar - a plot to ensure English cheese is held in low esteem?

Always lots of bananas in our supermarket. There seem to be many news stories about the fast approaching extinction of the common cavendish banana because of a fungal disease which is striking plantations world wide. It's exacerbated, of course, by climate change like so many other natural disasters these days. I think the corporate growers are flooding the market while they can.

These bananas come from French West Africa - a region the fungal disease hasn't ( yet ) reached.

Farewell: I live in Clayton County, Georgia where one of his funniest movies was filmed. He rented a house a few doors down from a friend of mine for the duration of the shooting of the film. The local paper published the sites that would be filmed the next day. His was among the first movies to be filmed here. Now, this entire area is surrounded by film studios! The local evening news will announce which areas and streets will be closed for filming the next day. The Atlanta Airport sits in the middle of the movie studios!

How amazing. I was a student in Georgia when the old airport was still in use . Was Murder in Coweta County ever turned into a movie ? I seem to remember meeting the author In Newnan Ga. and the book is still a great read.

In 1983 a television movie was made based on Margaret Anne Barnes’ book Murder in Coweta County. Andy Griffith played the part of the landowner, and Johnny Cash played the part of the sheriff. On a funny note: my father flew out of the old airport headed for a convention. During the week he was gone the new airport opened, and that is where he landed. I received a call from him telling me he was on the ground, but had no idea where!
