Silence isn't golden.

A blissful winters afternoon in the garden. Warm and sunny. Angus rakes leaves and thinks about what he's going to talk to the dark suited men in New York about. It's that time when everyone wants a New Year prognostication. The economy is doing well but the Middle East is brewing up a polarization of Sunni and Shia that hasn't been seen in centuries.

Bob wanders over for a tickle behind his ears. He looks at me with his big brotherly '' I believe you should be checking up on my sister " look.

On the other side of the garden I can see what appears to be a small sheep with its head and shoulders in a hole. How right Bob was to alert me to his sisters activities. She's gone mole hunting and has been excavating. She's dug a hole that she can squeeze her head and haunches into.

Bob revels in mischief. Sophie generates mayhem. And to think we thought having a female PON might bring a gentler more reflective presence into our canine mix of characters. Those black feet and muddy muzzle are washed twice. Sophie then falls asleep in the kitchen and dreams about all the brave things she's done.

The mayors secretary puts up the village Christmas decorations.

These comprise in their totality :1 band of gold tinsel around the yew bush on the right of the war memorial and 1 band of red tinsel round the yew bush on the left. There's also 1 short length of silver tinsel and 2 red baubles on the cypress by the church.

Forget less is more. In some cases less is less.

Sometimes you just cannot understand countries and various groups........ Sometimes wonder why they cannot adopt a canine approach and just all endeavour to get on. Still this has been a current trend for centuries. Life is much more simple if you are a dog. By the way love the minimalist decorations in your little village. They are all awaiting the christmas cocktail party. We do expect a detailed report on the various outfits no doubt very colourful

The Christmas decorations around the church seem to become more minimal each year.
One wonders where Sophie would have dug down to if Bob hadn't alerted you to her excavations !

Sophie seems satisfied with her mornings progress.

The question isn't if, but where will it start.
Love the decorations.

Even Bertie is impressed by Sophie's muddy paws. Gail wonders if two washes were sufficient.

Thank you for the music selection. I'd never heard it before and was pleased to learn it's by Stephen Foster. The version you posted is the loveliest in my opinion.

Sophie throws herself wholeheartedly into whatever she's doing.
If the Christmas decorations were any thinner, they wouldn't exist at all.

The tinsel and baubles might have been better on one bush, in the shape of a happy face.
