During our get together on Saturday evening The Old Farmer brought out some Polaroid pictures of the same dogs. It seems that they are two young sisters of about eight weeks old. By happenstance they were found sitting in the middle of the road by one of the farmers in the valley. No collars. No chips. Someone drove into the village and abandoned them. The farmer who found them has taken them in. They sleep in the warm barn with the other farm dogs, have had a thorough check up at the vets and are being well looked after. The farmer hopes to find a home for them. If not they'll act as back up to his existing dogs.
It never entered our heads that dogs could be abandoned in this way. The fact they weren't run over, were found and are now safe and well is in its way a small canine Christmas miracle. The way The Old Farmer carries around photos of them to show to potential owners is somehow touching in a French village way .

What a heart warming tale about the two pups. And I am wondering when I last saw a Polaroid!
Cheers, Gail.
Some savvy businessman has bought the name and reinvented Polaroids for 'the digital age' . The Old Farmers Polaroid probably pre-dates this revival.
Can't believe people just abandon pups.
Such a wonderful story of the sisters.Such gentle pups. Such a shame that the Old Farmer is not up to adopting them. They would be great company but those steps of his ......
They look such sweet pups. Whoever abandoned them must know the area, and knew they would find a good home.
Is Sophie trying to tell you that she and Bob would like playmates?
What lovely little dogs. If I was local I would be tempted to keep them.

I was thinking as Jean was - I do hope that this fortunate rescue and care reaches a full and satisfying conclusion; clearly there could be worse fates than becoming farm dogs in a deep - and caring - part of France. YAM xx
In a time when so many people look the other way, and do nothing, I am always grateful for those that do something and make a difference. I'm glad that these "lost girls" have found kindness and a warm and safe place for now.
What an unexpected twist to the story of the two lovely pups. May they continue to meet with nothing but good fortune and kindness.
The farmer is a kind man. If he's carrying their pictures, they are now in his pack.
It does make one cringe to think of the cruel people who would just dump a young animal in such a way. We are glad that the farmer found them and gave them shelter. Bravo!!
When you posted the puppy’s pictures the first time, I thought they had such sweet faces. And to think they were on their own at just eight weeks old.Sophie tried to tell us!
