10

This morning the conversation with the super smart Los Angeleans is dominated by the words documents, garage and vintage Corvette.  They want to know what it all means for 2024. The Los Angeleans continue to trade their LNG portfolio and expect a late January cold surge on the East Coast that will be of epic proportions. I've noticed that the weather forecast here is now starting to project colder temperatures starting this weekend. A few days ago there was no talk of snow or frost.

There's a Russian navy frigate somewhere out at sea between us and Norway. Our morning starts early with an anti-submarine warfare aircraft skirting low over the bay followed by the throaty roar of a couple of fighters scrambling into the air.

A few days ago Sophie celebrated her 10th birthday.

This milestone is quite something for a 'shy' girl with two titanium knees. After a 'troubled' start in life she has become quite the PON 'grade dame'.  She truly is the family diva. She has become more 'vocal' in the last year.

We stop off at the good coffee cafe. There are a few students up and about as lectures don't start until next week so there's no queue. Sophie enjoys a bowl of fresh water and a shared pain au raisin.

The playlist at the cinema fails to entice.

Belated Happy Birthday to our precious Diva! She does indeed look lovely in the photos - almost like a puppy.
The choice of films at the cinema tends towards the return of the students. Unlikely you'll see much to interest you and 'The Font' until the Easter break.
Eatrenalin? Whatever next, but is the food as good as the photos?

Sharing Sophie's first 10 years with you has truly been a joy and a privilege, and these past few months in Scotland have really been a revelation as she has morphed into her current sociable beachcomber/mighty huntress persona. I remember well when you had her knees fixed - it sounded so daunting, but it's turned out so well! We are about to get our 25-year old cockatiel microchipped for his journey to France - I'm terrified, but I will think of Sophie. My son saw Avatar his first day back in the States and reports that it was visually stunning. I would like to see it, but it has to be on the big screen and I am not quite sure - maybe some 10 a.m. showing when no one else is there? In Ohio it's already old hat, so my son was there with only four other souls.

Lisa - I'm sure the cockatiel won't notice a thing ! Have you decided on N, S or Paris basin ?

Happy belated birthday wishes to dear Sophie. She's had such challenges and adventures during her ten years on earth and suspect that Scotland is turning out to be her very best so far. I spent several minutes exploring the 'Eatrenalin' dining experience and confess its left me somewhat dazed and confused. I have so many questions, and regretfully, none of which are very tactful.

Camille - 'Beverage creations' and sensory sensations from the depths of the sea told me that this might be a step too far for us.

I hope you are right about the cockatiel. Charlie already got his chip and it was over in a flash, but he has a bit more meat on the bone. We are going SE, not right on the coast but not far. I'm a New Jersey girl, never feel comfortable too far from the ocean.

Happy Birthday SOPHIE! Your happiness in Scotland is so much fun for us to watch. Thank you again for sharing her with us, Angus
I noted after Lola turned 10 last July that she has turned into one of those outspoken, no holds barred old ladies living life on her terms. Her staff, who are also 10 years older, have adjusted accordingly.

I have followed back to Wolf and Digby. You write so well. I tell all my friends about your blog (I don't follow any others). I hated the irony that my first chance to take my boy yo France was just a week after you left.

Sophie is a wonder. Have you introduced her to Twitter's #sophiefromromania?

Pam in NH - You have managed to describe the pecking order here at the last wee house before Denmark. Sophie like Lola has discovered that if the service is tardy then shriek.

Happy 10th birthday, dear Sophie! Wishing you a paws-itively wonderful day filled with walks, Jaffa cakes, and lots of love.

Happy Birthday and may you see many returns of the day, Sophie!
Were any jaffa cakes involved in the celebration?

I too was left somewhat baffled by the "Eatrenalin experience"... well, at least the food pictures are gorgeous.

Tip of the hat to the very clever Angelenos: it started snowing again in Toronto and Eastern Ontario last night.

Eatrenalin once again so reminds me of The Menu. Gastronomic insanity.
