Strong suspicions

'The Font' gets this mornings wordle in 3. This prompts a shout of ' I've got it ! '  over the oatmeal and strawberries. In the papers a story about a tourist who has carved the words  "Ivan + Hayley 23" into the walls of the Colosseum with a key. This act of desecration has upset the Italian government who want him found and charged. A fine of $17500 is the penalty for defacing a historic monument.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGYe1Z4EbQ0 The newspaper pedantically tells me that 'the subject has not yet been identified but there are strong suspicions that his name is Ivan'.

The three seagull chicks are up and about at five. They're making it clear that they're hungry. First light is the perfect time for the father to go scavenging in the rubbish before the dustbin men arrive. The mother watches her brood as they get close to the edge of the neighbours kitchen roof. Seagulls, it has to be said, are noisy - and early rising - neighbours.

A solitary dog walker on the beach. The black labrador accompanying him wanders over to let us see that he's got a ball in his mouth. He then plods off after his master. The dog has an air of total ( make that supreme ) contentment that makes it clear that walking on the beach while holding a ball in your mouth is not the sort of multi-tasking talent we're likely to see every day.

In the old part of town some unusual architecture. I'm guessing the rooms at the top of the tower are let out to a super fit student.

The hydrangeas coming into flower on many of the house fronts. A better choice for the stonework than ivy .

How's this for modern technology ? https://twitter.com/Rainmaker1973/status/1673720015793582081

Gloom rather than anger drives support for populist politicians . There may be something in this : https://www.nber.org/papers/w31383

I'm wondering how contented the labrador would be should he encounter my ball-thieving terrier on the beach?

Labradors have to carry something - it's in their nature.

My first Labrador was never more content than when he had two tennis balls AND a golf ball to carry!

Nothing like getting it in 2 or 3 for a wordle player! I was in 3 this morning too so share the YES! The equivalent of a tennis ball or two if I were a Lab?

Just had to take a Wordl moment and it's another 3er - yes!

we guess the super fit student with the room at the top of the tower has the best view over the town. That weed 'killer' could possibly be a bit scary - one assumes it burns off the top (leaving roots to regenerate if they belong to stinging nettle, bindweed, dandelions, or many varieties of thistle.) Having said that it will reduce competition for light.

With an elevator (lift) the tower would make a great apartment in town.

I enjoyed the pictures of the old buildings. They are so beautiful and outstanding. Thank you for sharing. A dog and his ball is always a pleasure too read about. 🐾🐾🎾

Good day, Angus and the Font. As a world player I'd like to recommend the Font try Quordle - you play 4 games at once - a good challenge and lots of fun. P.S. Many thanks for continuing to write. Cathy

I love to see what I’ll encounter on the daily blog. We move from beach-walking dogs, to gull babies, to architecture, weed killers, and populism. Quite stimulating in the morning. Plus a fellow Wordle enthusiast!
