Burns Biscuits for sale in the bakers. Until now I wasn't aware that Burns Biscuits were a thing . I'm guessing they're just two shortbread rounds with a filling. Tomorrow I'll pop in and buy one .
This is very Scottish. For all those who talk to their dogs be assured you are not alone. :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAYRg9QWya0&list=PLdca3BMTMUqzJ21JyvfoTsoDkJFmrB7Ku&index=41 Olive and Mabel were on Radio 4 yesterday. You can listen to the programme here:https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001vbvd

Oh yes, I've followed Olive and Mabel for a few years now... always good for an uplift! Ooh, bannock..... YAM xx
Dogs are the best conversationalists. They listen so intently and understand every word.
I, too have followed Olive and Mabel, since first lockdown - they are an absolute must!
Interesting that I have very recently had a Spanish dog behaviourist for a problem with my rescue dog, and she has told me that I must not talk to my dog! Not surprisingly becasue of that, and a couple of other strange ideas she has, I have cancelled the rest of the sessions.
Does surfboarding in such conditions come under foolhardiness or bravery?
Yes Angus, you are perhaps a bit late to Olive and Mabel. For many of us, they were the highlight of the pandemic. The only downside is that now, when I hear Andrew Cotter doing his 'day job' commentating on rugby etc, I can only think of him addressing his beloved dogs and so can't take his commentary quite seriously!
I await with interest a report on the Burns biscuits. I'm forecasting disappointment.
Cheers, Gail.
I was very surprised to find surfing in the northern climes, Ireland?
I am another Andrew Cotter, Olive and Mabel fan. But the best thing I got from this clip is the word "munro." A neighboring street to my childhood home was "Monroe Street." But having learned the definition of "munro" I am positive that was the intended name, for it is a prodigious hill, and as children when we arrived at the top, we called it Top of the Elephant. I can't wait to email my siblings!

Ah yes, Burns' birthday is almost upon us. Last year Angus shared this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMFnqj6aFwY
I return to it periodically...love the poem and think Dougie MacLean's arrangement is brilliant.
Just thinking of even dipping my big toe in the North Sea at this time of year makes me shiver!
We are saving the Mabel video for the afternoon tea break. Thank you, we follow Mabel and Olive on IG.
Quite the posh paneling shop. My grandmother remembered being a small child and a Danish craftsman painting wood grain on the dining room paneling . It took him a few days. Must have been beautiful. I wonder if the current homeowners have any idea there was faux bois painting underneath the now painted cream walls.
Surfing is very popular in the cold water along the Northern California and Oregon coasts, with surfers properly attired in wetsuits.
Angus introduced followers to Olive and Mabel some years ago, and I've been following them ever since. I loved their Zoom meeting! And Coppa's Girl, NOT talking to a dog? What horrible advice! They are such receptive and agreeable listeners - until one asks them to do something they'd rather not! And Lizzie, thanks for the Burns link - so lovely! I missed that version at the New Year.
